Damn Battlefield 4 launched in a Beta state and took another few months to get to a point where it was almost considered ready to release, being 11 months from launch and having a next gen engine that mostly works is a great place to be for 343 for a smooth unbroken launch of Halo 5. |
I agree his comment is silly (for several reasons), but games like battlefield don't take less than 11 months to make :p They usually have multiple teams working on 2 to 3 year development cycles to allow a yearly release. It has the added benefit of speeding up overall development time, since the teams can swap around assets and staff depending what the others need (such as ND's Team 1 jumping over to help Team 2 with UC4 while their next title is in early production). In some instance (such as COD) they cycle through actual developers.
I don't know about sports games like FIFA though.

I'd be pretty happy if they did though. The technique respires a lot of refining, and could do without GG smothering it with motion blur (they seem to really like that in their MP...), but the technique itself was pretty interesting. I'd love to see more developers have a go at it.
