And have they been pouding the pavement to get the word out?

I'm sure the word is out but it doesn't matter.

How long has the second X1 discount been in effect? Has there been a significant marketing campaign for it? I've honestly been out of the loop, but the Amazon standings look like it's not yet working or it hasn't yet started.

It's been advertised heavily on the front of online retailers' video game sections, and the word is out there regardless. When XBL went $349 the first time, it wasn't long before it stayed at the top of the charts. I think it's just the casual Christmas rush is over, on top of Microsoft not really having a major game to attach themselves to for good while.

Throughout the holidays they were advertising the $350 price point. even now any Xbox ad still has it at $350. they never advertised that the initial promotion would end. So what do u want them to do now, make an ad saying still at $350?

9-10 days

Gamestop has heavy XB advertising, and its apparently in the lead there at least online. Amazon also does not show TLOU for PS4.

So even if advertising was bad for XB it is also bad for PS4.

I think Sony should ride out most of the year at $400, even if X1 gets ahead, and then have a large price cut right at the start of November. $70 or so

PS4 has now become a premium product.  I think a different strategy is in order. Maybe they don't undercut the Xbox One.  The Xbox One holiday sales gave us unreal assumptions because people rushed out thinking it was a limited time thing. It was manufactured demand.  Sony definitely has the upper hand.

If I'm not mistaken, ps3 dropped from 299 to 250, then went back up to 270 with the new ps3 slim, though I'm expecting a 100 price drop for ps4 on August.

What about a ps3 price cut in spring?

I guess you meant ps4? if so, I wouldn't mind ps4 releasing in spring but IMO, it makes more sense in August or September, this way sony can build momentum near holiday and then push that momentum further with uncharted 4 which is the biggest game for Sony this year.  Maybe  I'm expecting a similar effect when ps3 was cut to 299 around August or september (I'm not sure) which was huge and then pushed further with Uncharted 2, that combination help ps3 cut the ps3/360 gap from 8m to 5m in just matter of few months, though microsoft released the slim with kinect and stop the gap from decreasing rapidly.

No it's meant ps3. A price cut for it is long overdue.

I don't care what they do; I was just curious lol.

The XB1 fell from #11 to #14. Hum

So it looks like the X1's baseline will be lower than the PS4's despite having a $50 price advantage. And this is before PS4 begins to have The Order: 1886, Bloodborne, MLB 15: The Show, etc. to temporarily boost sales.

Let me say this before I get charged with something I never said... I own a PS4... my GF is currently sitting next to me, playing Minecraft on said PS4... I actually like my PS4... but if we're going to be honest here, those games are not casual enough to warrant much of a boost if any boost at all. The types of games that really boost consoles are the ones with mass appeal like MK8, Titanfall, Halo, COD... you get the picture.

This whole thing where fanboys are up in arms over the Xbone taking the US, it's nonsense because it's inevitable. I don't think they should be conerned with it. Of course, a fanboy is a fanboy for a reason, and being rational is not one of those, but really, it's stupid. The PS4 is going to win in total WW sales.

Says who? You? Because that's not what most MLG, competitive online gamers think. PSN is too weak for that system to be called "premium" imo. I own one, I know. The damn thing went down three times in three weeks lol. There is NOTHING premium about PSN. The console is definitely better and so is it's UI. The games, taken as a whole, are better. But that online service is so unrealiable that there is no WAY you can call it a premium product. That's just my opinion.
