Surprised PS4 ended up 12th for the week, it was almost always above that. Games that were above it for a while, like Uncharted 4, must have sold a lot in that time period

Not really all that bothersome, just looking for clarification. I've also had plenty of conversations with her in the past, so this isn't a slight to her (and in that same vein, if I'm: "bothersome" to you, well, skip what I have to say). As for Sony's internal plans, this isn't a contest. I was truly curious about a new sku, price cut, or, perhaps, both. |
Never said it was a contest, but, she has consistently provided us with interesting behind the scenes information, as I said, more than most (or all) here, that's not gloating, it's merely stating what I've observed, nothing more, nothing less.
As far as your statements, they don't bother me, because yeah I can skip over them. However, I did respond because I value Tachi's input.

DDR4 RAM is around the corner. When new RAM technology becomes the standard, the price of the previous generation RAM goes up (and quite significantly, too). When DDR3 became the standard, the price of DDR2 went up. GDDR5 RAM, in contrast, does not have this problem. |
Thanks. Sony made a great call regards ram.

Yeah Uncharted must have sold a ton in the couple hours when it was available for $43, wonder if the pre order chart will somewhat show that.
Sony dominating big time now. Look at the $100 card right up beside the x1. No wonder ps4 digital sales are huge.

Well, as long as MS is smart they will have forward order contracts for RAM and a price cap guarantee. If the market price goes down MS will pay less, but of the market price goes up MS won't pay above the cap. being able to rely on,say, 10 million units of sales every year for at least 2 or 3 more years is worth risking reduced revenue if/when the market price for DDR3 RAM goes up.
It's probably true that RAM price won't help with MS getting its manufacturing costs down, but it's unlikely to cause MS any problems by counteracting the decreases in costs of other components.
Interesting to see PS4 up to #5. Is that the highest it's been for a while? I do hope The Order's new trailer has helped there.

I hope so because that would mean I'm actually right for a change :)
The PS5 Exists.
About this new SKU Tachi mentioned, are we possibly looking at a 500GB and 1TB model with half the number of GDDR5 chips, smaller die, and smaller cooling system?
Interesting in that the gap for January widened despite the fact that the X1's lower price. Can't imagine how big the gap would be had MS not cut the price again.

Makes me wonder if they'll increase the price, though I doubt it. |
With potentially a new PS4 SKU in the horizon, I also don't think it will not be a good idea.
