Well, as long as MS is smart they will have forward order contracts for RAM and a price cap guarantee. If the market price goes down MS will pay less, but of the market price goes up MS won't pay above the cap. being able to rely on,say, 10 million units of sales every year for at least 2 or 3 more years is worth risking reduced revenue if/when the market price for DDR3 RAM goes up.
It's probably true that RAM price won't help with MS getting its manufacturing costs down, but it's unlikely to cause MS any problems by counteracting the decreases in costs of other components.
Interesting to see PS4 up to #5. Is that the highest it's been for a while? I do hope The Order's new trailer has helped there.
