Forums - Gaming - TLOU2: What Would Your Opening Scene Be?

Here's mine:

We are an unknown character, who is trying to survive alone in the world. He's trying to find sancuary but having to battle against the elements and the infected as he nears his objective. Eventually he finds himself in open countryside with meadows and copses scattered before him. He can hear the screams, moans and clicks around him and begins the slow process of pressing forward one careful step at a time. In the distance he sees the lights of a town. Suddenly he's set upon by a dozen runners and melee's he way through, happening upon a small shed were he hunkers down for the night. Here he sleeps soundly for the first time in a long time and wakes feeling groggy but full of optimism.

Having surveyed the area for signs of the infected he hears someone singing in the distance. The malifluous tones are born on a light breeze and he's drawn towards it, now oblivious of any possible danger. He wipes sweat from his brow as he tries to focus sleepy eyes. He realises it's still night, so he must have slept for a whole day. His vision won't clear though and a red haze surrounds everything he can see. He hears the sounds of clickers again and tries to enter stealth but for some reason (the player) can no longer use stealth. He moves forward with more urgency now, something the player also has no control over. As he nears the sound of singing he begins moving faster, the camera veering wildly, and the more the player tries to control him the more he fights against it. He runs now as a small campfire can be seen down in the valley, the music a cacophony in his ears.

Through blurry, blood shot vision he sees a figure sat by the campfire, strumming a guitar and calling him towards with a song. He's running full pelt now and trying to call out to the figure but can only manage gutteral, weeping sounds. The figure by the fire stands as he approaches. The camera rises up and then swings behind what is clearly a young woman with a bow. The camera snaps to third person view behind the young woman and we are looking down the site of the the bow with a runner bearing down on us. FIRE!

Cue music.

Wow.

Screen flashing with recap images from the first game underlined with calls from Joel's daughter. Quick close up of Joel's face waking up. Room shot with his daughter asking for breakfast. Rolling credits.

That.... would be a pretty incredible opening!

It would answer a question Sam asked Ellie and would be a pretty good introduction to Ellie as a young woman.

Ellie dead, Joel holding her in his arms.

Nice opening! Can't wait to play the actual game.. Naughty Dog is the best developer in the industry (imo) especially when it comes to the 2nd installment in their franchises (Crash 2, Jak 2, Uncharted 2 and soon The Last of Us 2). :D

The Naughty Dog 30th Anniversary "documentary" is great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdr7THH0zo8

18 year old Ellie staring into the camera for 5 minutes. I really just need 2 minutes but the more, the better...don't judge me.

Joel and Ellie are living in Joel's brothers camp when suddenly the camp is attacked by a group like the fireflies trying to kidnap Ellie.  You fight them off, but Joels brother kicks you guys out to protect his camp and you two are on the run.

Late Teens/ Early Twenties Ellie playing the guitar to a bunch of kids who she is looking after at Jackson County, singing a song she wrote about the events of the first game or her time with Riley.
