Forums - Nintendo - When will Bayonetta 2 hit a million? Weighing the risk vs the reward.

IT's pretty normal for the big three to publish games that aren't profitable. I believe Sony said a while back that 7 of 10 games they publish don't break even.

I remember that statement but I also remember last year (or maybe two years ago) they also said that they can't keep making games that don't make profit and that they'll focus on AAA games (so more Uncharted and less Sly Cooper).

MadWorld sold 750k? Amazing if true.

Then Bayo 2 will sell more then 2 mio lifetime...

That's on a far larger userbase, though I say that a lot of those weren't exactly the target demographic.

The fact that bayonetta 1+2 managed to sell 450k bar digital is amazing, I must say, considering how niche it is.

But Other M didn´t outsold Fusion, Super Metroid or any of the MEtroid Primes even when it was released on the Wii, the Fire Emblem and Kirby Wii games are not the best selling entries in their franchises either.

Other M and FE: Radiant Dawn weren't exactly received as well, though. Radiant Dawn, however, is about as hard to find nowadays as Xenoblade.

Besides, Bayonetta 2 was a sequel to a game on an entirely different set of platforms, and whose audience damn well wasn't going to bother with the Wii U to begin with.

It probably won't...

It surely would deserve this 1 million, but it will probably sell 700k lifetime at best.

First of all it was silly and down right stupid of PLAT Games to even release this game as an exclusive on their system.

This game was a game that was released on both Ps3/360. so why would you turn around and release it to a consumer that has no idea what the game is about.

Selling a million units is a stretch. I say 700k lifetime......

Nobody was willing to fund the title except for Nintendo. This has literally been discussed a hundred times on this site, If Nintendo didnt fund it, then it would never have been made.

Sega published the original and wouldn't fund the sequel, I believe I read an interview a while back from one of the developers saying they also asked Sony & Microsoft to publish for them and they declined, they then went to Nintendo and they agreed to publish the title, thus making it a Wii U exclusive.

Actually, Nintendo approached Platinum games about it and offered to publish it if they got exclusive rights. Platinum did not approach Nintendo.

Why do you think Bayo 2 will hit 1m?

I think we'll see this game hitting a million by the end up 2015.  If there is no bayo 2 or it doesn't come out until after 2017 or later i think we'll see this game outsell the original bayonetta on PS3 and dwarf the sales of the 360 version.

May be wishfull thinking but would love to see a bundle next Christmas together with The Devil's Third and possibly Zombi U.

I looked it up, ur right Nintendo did approach them but it was after multiple publishers had already turned down the project, so my point still stands.
