Nintendo needs to announce an open world Pokemon game for the Wii U.
Make it using the same engine and in a similar visual style to The Legend of Zelda.

That would be a definite system seller IMO.

I agree, but this isn't logical from a profit perspective. If you can make a game that takes very little resources to make (pokemon handheld compared to HD console game) and a whole lot less time to make, what is the point developing an HD game that is more expensive, takes longer to develop, and won't sell NEARLY as much?

Unfortunately, you're right. I just wish Nintendo would pull the trigger on this eventually and just try. They need popular IPs to sell the Wii U, and Pokemon is one of the most popular IPs ever. And an HD Pokemon RPG has never been done before and if it's marketed correctly, it could move a ton of units.

But there is a risk, and I wonder if Nintendo will ever be willing to do it anyways. I mean, they did fund Bayonetta, and that was a risk, so who knows?

I could see Nintendo convincing Gamefreak to get another studio to do it (while they keep making the mainline ones) in order to not take anything from development time.

I could see it too. It seems like something they would do inevitably, so why not for a system that needs as much help as it can get?
