1. Dont be to butt hurt about the butt hurt part. I assumed you were being sarcastic so I playing on your sarcasm. Was not knocking you or anything. 2. There is a very clean cut negativity from gamers on developers and mobile. SEGA and many other Japanese developers are not "moving" to mobile, just leveraging it as a imported part of their release portfolio. Its very similar to when PC gamers got all defensive when known exclusive PC developers started to except console as a viable source of income. Just because SEGA has a mobile game coming does not mean they have turned their backs on consoles, there will be another and many more console Sonic game. Only thing that keeps them relevant over here. Not the first time Sonic has been on mobile anyways.. Only thing diffrent here is Sonic team themselves are behind it. It you really did look at this from a business it should have made sense instantly. You know Chain Chronicle and Sonic Dash are regularly mentioned as money makers on SEGA's financial reports... Sonic CD was a big hit too... |
Chain Chronicles is associated with SEGA? Had no idea.
I am a long time player of Brave Frontier, which is made by Alim, who is part owned by Gumi, who also made Chain Chronicles. Yes, the game makes good money, it is in the Top 40 in terms of overall gross income on the Appstore and GooglePlay last time I checked, which was about a week or two ago.
Anyways, can't wait for their colab with SquareEnix with Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

To show what I am talking about, here are some pictures from earlier in the week. 2nd pic was 1 week AFTER the first, meaning Brave Frontier income JUMPED big time, which makes sense since they released a seriously OP unit. They have plans to go public VERY SOON.
2n

Currently in the JPN store.

For reference, Chain Chronicles has only been out for a couple of months. It is obviously doing very well. I however do not have the time to invest in another title. I recently just went 100% F2P in Brave Frontier.
All pictures came from AppInvasion forums.

If anyone takes the time to check right now, Brave Frontier is #19 on iOS Top Grossing.Chain Chronicles isn't even in the Top 150, but understand that Brave Frontier is HUGELY popular worldwide while Chain Chronicles is popular currently in JPN. The charts will differ if I checked the JPN store.
To think I have been playing this game since before it became so popular (Since Jaunuary 2014), yet my team can still get whooped in the big time trials. Jeez...
Fun game though in Brave Frontier. Excellent artwork, which is why I am SOOO excited for Exvius.

Chain Chronicles is developed by SEGA but localized by Gumi, who will continue to localize SEGA mobile specific content. SEGA and Gumi have a partnership. Mobile games are really jumping in quality

Sequel to a movie tie in doesn't sound that good, just saying... and I enjoyed most sonics out there. |
I dont think its that great either, just depends on the movie. One good thing though it wont be bottlenecked. What I mean by that is the spiderman game was also a sequel to its movie, but the developers were not allowed to use any enemies planned for future movies, so robots and lizard clones were main badies..Lame. As long as movie doesn't hinder the game I wont have a problem.

Is sonic team doing that one?

Yes 2015 is Sonic Team Sonic.
Oh boy, Sanic it's back at it again!
I'm now filled with determination.
The main question is: will Sonic team be working on an actual console game for 2015?, sure there's always 2016 but I'm hoping it doesn't end up anywhere near like Boom did, speaking of misplaced teams I still remember why TF: Rise of the Dark spark sucked, it was mainly because Activision split HM studios from the franchise to work on a last gen COD port while they brought in a hardly known dev team to work on it, most of the game contained copy+pasted assets and sounds along with general gameplay with little new added and it tanked, I wasn't going anywhere near that game after hearing and eeeing what happened with it, I really loved the first two games but it just shows that replacing the team that once made something good with a franchise with some devs that are next to nothing really doesn't bode well.
It happaned with Sonic, Transformers and probably others out there too, it can easily happen again.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
Knowing me, I won't judge til I see it. I'm not even that big of a Sonic Fan and sonic boom left such a nasty taste to my mouth.
If it plays good, I'm all for it.
