Forums - Gaming - remastergate = buttery xbox fans

Not really sure what all the hate is about.

Played the game last year and enjoyed it? Great. Want to play it again a year later? No? Don't buy it.

Not exactly rocket science.

Well I for one is thankful for some remasters, even just plain ports because it gave me a chance to play games that I have missed the previous gen or get another copy of a game I lost long ago.

You're kind of re-writing history, aren't you? Seriously. Do games like Gun, Tomb Raider Legend, Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, etc mean nothing to you? People were saying the Xbox 360 didn't have a library because most of its early games were just HD ports of PS2 games.

Also, most HD collections from ZoE, Silent Hill, etc. Were multi-plat. Only ones that come to mind are the PS exclusive franchises and Tomb Raider HD (because all three games were already on Xbox 360). Maybe Hitman? I can't remember.

And wasn't it PS fans that were calling Tomb Raider Definitive Edition "Tomb Raider Fraud Edition"? At least that game had improved effects (Hair, fog, foliage) and redesigned characters.  I remember this because I championed that game and was actually shocked when people that hated Tomb Raider's re-release were suddenly okay with TLoU's rerelease (gamers are such hypocrites!).  The disdain for remasters goes both ways. Hell, the disdain for GoTY Editions went both ways. Why are you going out of your way to make this an anti Xbox thing?

I think it was called "Tomb Raider: Acceptable Edition"

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

It's not a bad point about ps3 having a lot of remasters, but there are a ton on the x360 as well, the dmc hd collection, mgs 2+3 hd, silent hill hd collection, resident evil 4 hd on the store, hitman hd collection. I know they're all 3rd party stuff but some games like Resi evil hadn't been on a Microsoft console before so it was pretty class to get to play it for the hardcore Ms fans.

I've no real issue with hd ports or remasters... it's just more choice for the gamer as to what they wanna play... how anyone has issue with that being available on their console of choice or anyone elses is beyond me.

thing is it doesn't hurt anything.  Sony had no major studios delaying games because of HD collections.  Hell Sanzaru got to make Sly HD and it was a nice foot in the door for them to make my favorite Sly yet with Thieves in Time.  Hopefully more devs get a nice remaster to work on to make their inroads with a first party dev before making their own game.  It's also a great way to garner interest in a long dormant series (why they should have a super Kingdom hearts Hd collection for PS4 before KH3 comes out)

I agree with remakes to reintroduce a series like Sly and the other PS2 collections on PS3. The only issues I have are with ALL of the rereleases on PS3, especially current games. There are collections for Uncharted, Infamous, and Resistance on there, even though those are all current gen franchises. EA did the same thing with Mass Effect. Why rerelease these games so soon? I also don't agree with GTA V and TLOU getting remasters, but I do understand the reasoning behind that.

One of the dumbest threads I have ever seen.

They were compilations of existing releases. There was nothing changed in them at all and they weren't aimed at existing owners of the games.

I haven't noticed one fan base being any more against remasters than others. People like/dislike remasters for reasons that have nothing to do with console allegiance. I think you are seeing something that just isn't there...
