Console Gaming!

I just cant stare at the same screen that i've been working on all day and play games on it.

This! I have a pretty powerful laptop but have no desires to game on it.

Really though people need to stop trying to legitamise their preference over someone elses. There are too many variables, The PC has backwards compatibility and cheaper software on its side.

Digital console games in the UK seem to be between £50 and £65, whilst on Steam the same games are generally £30-40. I don't think there's really any denying that on the whole, PC games are much cheaper than console games. However consoles do for the most part offer the simplicity of not having to fiddle around with settings to get the best performance you can as they're pre optimised to your hardware.

Not sure about UK but here i see steam games at 60 euros, and psn at the same prices. I got TLOU:R and Infamous SS for 20 euros each 2 weeks ago, so less than one year old games at 33% price.

There are "less" sales, but there are also less games (mostly bc indies and older games), so it's pretty much the same IMO

I'm not talking about sales. I'm talking about actual full prices. I try and buy the games I want on or close to release to actually support the developers.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

A console life span is in general = 6 years.
To play on-line you pay a yearly $50 internet fee, X 6 years= $300.
Games are about $20 cheaper on PC, say you buy 4 games a year X6 years= 24 games @ $20 cheaper= $480 saved.
With the money you save on internet & games alone you can build yourself a $800 rig!
Not to speak of all the extra stuff you can do with a PC...
Any questions?

In my opinion this attempt shows that PCs cannot compare to consoles in terms of Price to Power ratio.

So did you make this thread because you saw it get locked on GAF because it was nearly a year old? WTF?

Ironically GameSpot came to a contrary conclusion:

"As it turns out, you can build a gaming PC for around the cost of an Xbox One that will outperform both next-gen consoles given the current stock of cross-platform games. You'll also enjoy a massive library that neither the PlayStation 4 nor the Xbox One will ever be able to match from a pure numbers standpoint. Plus, your PC is upgradable, and its functionality in non-gaming areas only adds to its value."

Well, since April some demanding games were released that run better on consoles than on these PC builds and the console prices have dropped (the prices of some PC components also, especially graphic cards & HDDs)... so why are you starting a thread with such an outdated article?

My opinion: if you don't take the cheaper PC game prices into account, console hardware will always have a better price-to-power ratio. BUT the difference is shrinking generation for generation! In the past a PC that was more powerful than a console in every scenario was 200% - 600% more expensive than the console, nowadays its only 50% - 100% more expensive

They used AC:black flag as a game test. If they used AC:U I hardly doubt it would be playable at 1080p.

No, I saw it in my Facebook feed one hour ago.

They must be looking at GAF or saw someone else resurrect this ancient article.

So what we're saying is, this was a year ago. Now that PC parts have dropped again, you'll be able to make a PC that smokes the PS4/XB1 for $550 now? Sweet, I'm looking to drop £750ish on a new PC in the next few months.

And everyone knows that the PC version is a joke.  How ubisoft made it need those requirements is beyond anyone.

Better to look at Witcher 3 when it comes out.  Those devs know what they are doing on PC.
