@ Norlead,
lol, I'm sure you know what tax defered savings plans are called where all the foreigners come from.

Haha fair enough. My one teacher wasn't heartless... but then again he also gave up being the CEO of a multimillion dollar company so he could teach kids.

1 year before medical? 90 days is pretty standard in the jobs I've had. Congrats non the less!
So what do you win if your prefered console sells more than another?
Congrats!
Though I must say I'm happy I work in Europe (and so are my American colleagues!).
Full insurance and 5 weeks of holiday standard!
Salary and taxes are better in the States though.
@Madskillz: You live in Houston? I'm there once every while for work. They always place the Houston Chronicle in front of my Hotelroom every morning.
If they are dumb enough to fall for advertising it is your money. That is the beauty of capitalism, stupidity is encouraged but punished while intelligence is discouraged yet rewarded.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke
It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...." Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson
It's always nice to hear of something good happening to a good person. :)
Hope you enjoy it. Nothing sucks more than being in a job that, well, sucks.

For the next seveal months, I'll be the poor sod getting worn out. The company makes and imports heavy industrial machinery and there are so many product lines to learn and sort out that it makes my head spin. |
Just wondering, is it things like bulldozers, cranes, tooling equipment, engines, etc. It can be quite an interesting field. I wish you good luck (or "break a leg" as they say in the entertainment industry). I guess you'll be grinding down for the next 4-6 months as you get up to speed. It's always fun to be learning something new (as long as you have a decent boss).

They actually do CNC machines and other large mills and lathes. Some of the stuff is 25 feet long and over 10 feet tall. Crazy big stuff.
Learning new stuff is always fun, though. It's one of my favorite parts of the design business. I have learned tons of info about random stuff like green power, forklifts, ATVs, industrial machinery, street sweepers, amongst other things.
