I mentioned that I disagreed with this list, with these three being the exception:

1990 - Super Mario Bros. 3

1991 - Super Mario World

1997 - Goldeneye 007

However, I haven't played many games earlier in the 90's except the first two, so I can't judge the ones between 1992 to 1996. But I can start at 1998, since by then I was really starting to get into videogames and I got a PlayStation.

1998 - Metal Gear Solid

1999 - Soulcalibur

2000 - The Sims

2001 - Grand Theft Auto III

2002 - Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

2003 - Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando

2004 - Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Tied with Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater)

2005 - Resident Evil 4

2006 - The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion

2007 - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

2008 - Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

2009 - Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (Tied with Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time)

2010 - Mass Effect 2

2011 - Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

2012 - Mass Effect 3

2013 - The Last of Us

2014 - Dragon Age: Inquisition

Totally agree. The other list had too many Zelda Legends.

Even though I was born in 1993 lol, I'll try to make a list I guess.

1993 - Secret of Mana

1994 - Super Metroid (special mention to Earthbound and FF VI)

1995 - Terranigma / Chrono Trigger tie

1996 - Pokemon Red & Blue

1997 - Fallout

1998 - Baldur's Gate

1999 - Planescape Torment/Silent Hill

2000 - Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

2001 - Silent Hill 2

2002 - Metroid Prime

2003 - Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando

2004 - Half-Life 2

2005 - Resident Evil 4

2006 - The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess

2007 - Super Mario Galaxy

2008 - Fallout 3

2009 - Dragon Age Origins

2010 - Monster Hunter Tri

Way too much Nintendo after 2005.

Seriously. Xeno, Mario Kart, and Zelda Between Worlds were not GOTY.

Of course, that is only my opinion.

Can you name a better 2012 game than Xenoblade?

Mass Effect 3, Far Cry 3, Journey.

Actually not Journey but i still loved journey.

Xeno blade was great, but not as great imo of those two.

And you can't imagine how Xenoblade can be somebody's game of the year for 2012? It might not be yours, but it certainly is a valid choice.

I understand that it's your opinion, but I can easily turn around and say that Journey and ME3 didn't deserve to win any GOTY awards!

To me OP seems like he only plays Nintendo games. That's very biased.

In fact most of the Nintendo gamers i've come across on this site prefer to only play Nintendo games.

I play all all the consoles/handhelds so I try to be unbaised (despite my user name). So while I prefer playstation, it doesn't sway my choices any.

There are plenty of non-Nintendo games on that list like Deus Ex, Shinning Force, RE4, Gears and so on.. It doesn't seem like such a biased list to me!

2012 - Xenoblade Chronciles

2013 - Bioshock Infinite

2014 - Dragon Age Inquisition

I'll sum up the platforms of my game of the year.

13 Nintendo (52%)

4 PC- Exclusive/Primarily PC ( 16%)

2 Sony (8%)

6 Multiplat  (24%)

I consider myself a Nintendo/PC gamer mostly. Last generation I owned all three consoles and both handhelds. The one before that I owned a PS2 and GC, and played more on PS2. The one before that I had both a PS1 and N64 and played on PS1 more, but I also had a SNES I played just as much at the start of the 5th generation. I also played handhelds more than I played consoles. I didn't get into PC gaming until I was about 10-12 years old (2003-2005) when I played the Half-Life games.

Most referring to the recent games.

Most people would not pick Portal 2 (multiplatform), Xenoblade, Zelda 3ds, and Mario Kart 8 as GOTY for those years.

Nintendo only GOTY? Of course. I'm just saying.

If I were to pick mine starting from 2007 they would closely resemble what most video game sites say..... As a reference. Here they are:

2007 - Call of Duty 4: Easily the best COD ever created. The campaign is actually good, and it started the online craziness as it is today. Mass Effect would be here if it were more polished. All other CODs have been utter crap after Modern Warefare 2 (even that was just decent). COD4 changed more and had a much better impact than Bioshock. However I'm okay with Bioshock as your pick. It's either or, really. Personal preference. Halo 3 would also be up there. Galaxy 1 would probably be my personal # 2 with Bioshock at 3.

2008 - Super Smash Bros Brawl: The easiest pick here. i personally have spent over 1000 hours playing this game solo and with friends. Probably the most perfect release if purely talking about gameplay that I've ever played. Good pick. Any other pick simply never played Brawl.

2009 - Uncharted 2 Among Thieves: Again another easy pick. Demon's Souls was great, but Uncharted 2 is a borderline masterpiece. Such a perfect game. You'd either have to be crazy or just never played Uncharted 2 to not place it on 2009 GOTY. Demon's Souls had some gameplay faults as well.

2010 - Mass Effect 2: Again, Galaxy 2 is a wonderful game, but Mass Effect 2 improves upon it's predecessor in many more ways than Galaxy 2 did. ME2 is one of the best games of all time.

2011 - The Elder Scrolls Skyrim - Portal 2 is simply not a GOTY. It's way too short and honestly doesn't change up anything from Portal 1. Don't get me wrong; I LOVED Portal 2. But Skyrim changed up from Oblivion and literally contained hundreds of gametime. Breaktaking game that people still play today.

2012 - Journey: hardest pick here. Was going to pick Far Cry 3 and give the "Journey is too short" excuse but you cannot ignore the significance that Journey had when it released. Another breaktaking acheivement in gaming. And come on man. Xenoblade??? REALLY??? I've beaten Xenoblade twice and loved it. But it's not better than Journey or Far Cry 3. It'd be my #3 in 2012. That pick really certified your biased opinion.

2013 - The Last of Us: This was the kicker right here. I'm not hating on Zelda 3ds. I, again, have played it. I've beaten it once and am on my 2nd playthrough (probably won't finish again tho, backlog too big). There is NO WAY Zelda 3ds is a better game than The Last of Us. You simply have not played TLoU. Simple. Anyone crazy enough to not pick TLoU in 2013 either hates Playstation products or simply haven't played it. Also Bioshock Infinite is the #2 this year. Zelda comes in at my (and most people) as their #4 or #5.

2014 - Super Smash Bros Wii U - Sorry bud but you got it wrong again. Mario Kart 8 is great, but you simply CANNOT beat smash. I can't reiterate again how perfect Smash's gameplay is. It doesn't change much up from Brawl when compared to the likes of new experiences this year like Middle Earth SoM, or some others, but neither does Mario Kart 8 (my personal #2) so I'm going with Smash.

Under normal circimstances I'd give you Kart 8 as personal preference; but this is NOT a normal circumstance. You must hate Smash. That game is perfection.

This list is more unbiased and factual because I have played all of the best games of most years. You need to come clean and simply state that you are picking only Nintendo games because you don't play other games.

That's fine; but change the title to "My favorite games" or "The best Nintendo games" of the years.

How can you pick a GOTY when you haven't played all the games?!?!?!

Agree with all except for:
2009: Uncharted 2 ( A much better game, for me it's the first game which brought the ps3 back to life after a couple of luckluster games in the previous years.)
2011: Uncharted 3 ( An improvement over the second game and portal doesn't really have what it take to be game of the year)
2013: The last of us ( An amazing game, it's in another lever if greatness when compared to Zelda)
2014: Super smash brothers thought it's a close call and it depends on a persons preference)
