I dont know. This is the reason Nintendo gives on the subject. Its probably more because it makes them alot more money

Its so when you buy one version, you can trade Pokemon with people who own the other version.


why cant they all be in the same version, and everybody can trade with everybody? 


And the trading part doesn't even make sense, why the hell would you want to trade your legendary pokemon for a different one, why wouldn't people want both? Its amazing how people STILL defend this.

fanboyism does great things. 

 

this is the first time i really noticed this, its not like i give a shit about pokemon, but this is utterly fucked up. i mean you hear people complaining about day one DLC, EA and Ubisoft bullshit. heck they complain about CoD map packs. but this is by far the worst lol.

If you want them all, you have to trade, thus enticing the gamers to connect their systems, making friends & creating networks of gamers.

Just my theory about Nintendo way of promoting some of the features of the game/system, you know they are active advocates of local play, while making $$ out of it.

yup i was a huge fan of pokemon from blue version all the way up to sapphire at which point i got tired of the repetition

but ultimately its just a trick to get you to buy the same game twice initially then three times when "z" version or whatever they call it comes out

and nintendo fans will sit there and gobble this stuff up but when it comes to developers adding content to games after launch on other systems it then becomes evil and anticonsumer

way back when i was playing blue and yellow version i was thinking to myself even as a 10 year old that this is just a smart way to extort gamers

They make two versions as way to stimulate social interation, which than helps the creation/maintenance of a comunity. It is less about the legendarys and more about the other pokemon.

And i don't think it needs to be defended since, in all honest, i don't really people lose so much by playing only 1 version.

the notion that we can take user review scores seriously as they do provide a quality insight on a game quality is laughable, when you yourself admit its full of trolls reviewing these games. behind these scores are dozens and dozens of trolls, the score that comes out is meaningless because of that reason. 

It's not laughable when it's paired with the actual metascore. We don't know if its an AND condition I can't be bothered to actual check because I don't care.

But I won't assume either.

If the scores are trolled, then I would have expected a low score, not a high one. We all know Nintendo makes top-notch games, these are just metrics to help support something we all already know.

We do. The AND is capitalized padib. 

Wii U and 3DS really don't have any competition in the West, so there's no real sides going out of their way to troll.
