Forums - Gaming - Game of the Year! Dragon Age? WTF!

That was in a generation where Japanese games still dominated the industry.

Why dont you refer to every other VGA since?

Because a lot of the Japanese games last generation was weak, hence not deserving awards ...

There is a reason why a lot of Japanese publishers are in trouble ...

Dragon Age has much more to offer. And it has a wider market appeal.
Every element matters, ruling one major element out (like the plot / story) because it "doesn't matter" might be convenient for you and for the fans. But reality is different, fortunately.

I agree. But it wasnt the case this year. There was a clear contender that excelled in every technical presentation aspect and still didnt get the award for some misterious reasons.

I woulda picked Bayonetta 2 over DA I, but its all opinions.  Some people prefer DA, some prefer Bayonetta.

not really

for some odd reason the scores are similar from critics on metacritic, but look at the metacritic 'fan reviews' (or at any sites really, the fan reviews) when comparing the two games

it seems that roughly half of the 'fans' or 'players' hate Dragon Age Inquisition, while Bayonetta seems loved overall. so it's not really a matter of opinion, it's a matter of money. EA has obviously paid off a bulk of the critics and advertised their game to the point that it's getting this sort of recognition. again....  look at the Metacritic of PLAYERS/FANS compared to the critics on Dragon Age... it's a bizarrely different picture that's painted

Looking at Metacritic "fan reviews" are even worse. Many people that post low scores there do it based on hating the game from an irrational standpoint before they even start playing the game. And a lot of the comments just seem so picky and almost trollish. Adding on to that, DA:I has access to a larger auidence which can potentially skew fan reviews.

Could you tell what exactly is risque? I don't really know, sorry :p

Presentation isn't phenomenal, I agree, but it's acceptable, I guess, much better than that one of Bayonetta 1, which was affected for those grey and green tones, in my opinion.

There's a lot of nudity and overly sexual references in cutscenes and gameplay ...

I'm not sure if you could call it acceptable. It seems as if a lot of critics overlooked that aspect in favour of the gameplay ...

I didn't agree with it either at first, largely due to my love of Dark Souls 2. But I started playing DA:I this week and I don't wanna stop. Debating a sick call at work to play tomorrow.
It's good. And likely is my game of year.

Contender's are MEANT to compete against other games, not automatically win them ...

Just be thankful that some of the japanese games became nominees ...

Placing too much importance on metacritic once again

So do sexual themes affect your overall experience in Bayonetta 2? I truly understand, but in my case they aren't an issue. Most of the time I just pass from them or sometimes I think they are funny.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Your opinion is wrong! Mine is right! Far Cry 4 is game of the year! How in hell did it not win? After all, mine opinion is the only one that matters! You know why it didn't win? Because the media hates asian people...
And elefants! Blasphemy!
