Forums - Nintendo - Should Nintendo have kept amiibos exclusive to the Wii U?

Well... Apart from like One Piece, does any other game use it on the 3ds? Cause imo, for now, its basically exclusive and I doubt that many games on the 3ds will even use it apart from like maybe MH or Yokai watch but those are maybe

yes it shoudl have been exclusive then we would ot need those metal stickers to prevent scanning through the box.

well, for the 40+ million 3DS users to use the amiibos, they also need to buy the add on = $$$$$$$$$

They did sell around 700k amiibos already ( probably a lot more now ), without having the 3DS/New 3DS support in NA.

No, the more functionality Amiibos have, the more valuable they will become, and that translates into Amiibo sales. Nobody buys a WiiU or a N3DS for an Amiibo, but if they have one of those consoles, buying an amiibo is interesting.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

It's still Nintendo system exclusive...

No. They can make more money like this. And if it were exclusive, it wouldn't make much of a difference to Wii U sales.

They should have kept it exclusive. One of the Wii U's main problems is that too many of its games have counterparts on the 3DS. If Amiibo ends up being a good idea it will help the Wii U, then after that the platform can expand. But right now people need a reason to get a Wii U--not a growing list of excuses why it can wait.

Not at all. Why eliminate additional revenue from a product with a 40+million user install base, to only sell those same products on a much smaller user base of

they should make a 3DS/WiiU game pair in which the amiibo can exchange value between games. Smash was the perfect opportunity, but they didn't do that because of reasons...
