Have you heard? - Vista is outselling XP and selling more year over year! It is the best!!

To answer your question, Yes, I consider resoundingly outperforming the original XBOX and selling more year over year to be crap. The market has changed. Beating your admittely poor performing and pulled-from-market prematurely console is nothing to brag about. And selling more year over year, when all your competitors have *larger* year over year increases is also nothing great. So yeah, you pretty much defined 'crap' right there!

With all these advantages, why is it dead last WW week after week? Microsoft is used to treating consumers as stupid and ramming whatever software Microsoft wants to sell down their throats. In VG consumers have a choice - something Microsoft isn't used to - and they are no longer choosing X360.

By your reckoning, the PS3 is nothing more than an epic failure, as it's market share pails in comparison to that of the PS2.

I don't think anyone on here would disagree with that the PS3 has been an epic failure so far. The fumbled launch, the ridiculous price, the SKU confusion, lack of rumble, horrible Sony management, getting killed by the Wii, etc.

Just like most people would agree the XBOX360 is doing 'crap'.

The difference is the PS3 seems to be getting better and better while the X360 is going backwards. Now do you get it?

 Words of wisdom to all delusional fanboys.

You realise he called the PS3 an epic failure right?

How is the 360 getting worse. It has had one $50 price cut in two and a hlaf years and is still selling better year over year than last year.  It has another price cut inbound in the next two months along with exclusive GTA DLC.

@starcraft

Agreed. I don't know if I'd call the Ps3 an epic failure, it at the most will ensure a place in the market for the PS4. But to be honest, a console that can take the biggest two generation winning streak in History and throw it away over something as trivial to gaming as Blu-Ray complimented with the bitter reality of squandering all of the PS2's 7+ years of profits and a good chunk of the PS1's as well (in addition to negating any profit the PSP had made up to this point) with its losses... You really have to ask yourself, is the PS3 in anyway a success?

Let us not forget the embarassment of tacted on motion controls which "forced" the removal dualshock only to be re-added later at a premium completely unchanged from the PS2 and increasingly watered down SKUs which have progressively removed Backward Compatibility altogether. And the PS-Eye, well, as Trentton put it, fun is in the "Eye" of the beholder. Or do I need to bring up the list of exclusive franchises Sony has lost because of the PS3 as well while I'm at it?

The PS3 has set the Sony brand's stake in gaming back over a decade and will never pay off the losses its incurred within its lifetime. I sure hope to god Blu-Ray was worth it for all of you.

3: Try something weird and new, and hope we like it.

You'll cut costs way more than you cut revenue, and thus increase profit.

^^

wow dude. you seem pissed.

To answer your question, blu ray is well worth it, and so are the great sequels to the series' and new IP's.

PS3 will easily do well enough to warrant a PS4, and i wouldn't be surprised if by 2009-2010 Sony will be making a profit on each PS3 sold. Also just to let you know, it hasn't sold less than 169,000 in a week this year. Thats 9 weeks so far, and still going strong. It will easily surpass the 360, and old consoles such as the N64.

Pissed?, no my friend, if I was a PS3 owner I would be pissed, lol.

Tell me, what would you rather have? PS3 as the undisputed dominating force of this generation with all of the killer titles still exclusive (And no my friend, no it isn't nor will it ever be), or things as they are with Blu-Ray as the dominant HD format with the PS3 in last place having lost so many exclusives and so many titles.

The fact you even choose to see a Sony product outdoing the dissapointing N64 or once laughable MS brand as a sign of promise is proof enough of how far the mighty have fallen and how easy it is to forget that Sony was once the undisputed god of gaming.

If it wasn't for Blu-Ray, The PS3 would most likely be first place in not closing in on the spot just as it is now closing in on second place and would have kept all of its exclusives making it even more powerful.

Like good little sheep you eagerly swallow Sony's P.R. hype wanting so badly to believe that Blu-Ray is the PS3's savior, not its damning X-factor. You're incapable of seeing Blu-Ray as having brought any loss to the PS3 what-so-ever, instead, you view things strictly in the present as if the launch never happened and now the PS3 is being saved from unknown misfortune by Blu-Ray, yet ironically you claim at the same time people aren't actually buying it for Blu-Ray alone. It seems you want to have your cake and eat it too in just too many ways.

You try an ignore the unfixable follies of the past and present in favor of believing there is some holy ground just over the horizon. I'm not saying the PS3 is doomed, or that we shouldn't be hopeful for it. But to act like the PS3 hasn't been the biggest mistake in gaming since the Virtual Boy is just damned dillusional.

Did the Apple Pippin, Neo-Geo, 3Do or N-Gage needlessly throw away two generations as the undisputed gods of gaming? No, they just failed to make a foothold in gaming.

And the Gamecube? If you think the Fall from the PS2 to the PS3 is anything compared to the fall from the dissapointing N64 to the even more dissapointing dissapointing GC, then you are the one in need of a reality check my friend.

If you want to give me a real reality check, how about you try responding to every point I've brought up instead of just attacking a single hyperbole.

@4D gamerIII

so YOU are basing "mistakes" on falls from generation to generation..

then ISN'T the Dreamcast the BIGGEST mistake, I mean it led from 10 million units to NOTHING! didn't it..forget falling it led to SEGA LEAVING the market

you cannot base a failure on this, then wouldn't SNES be a "failure" as well & hope to GOd you don't dare call it a failure..
