So Pokemon is 18 years old now, and it has for the most part been an annual franchise.  Some years have been skipped, and it also depends on what region you look at, but releases have now been lined up.  Annual franchises tend to be criticized just for being annual, as the yearly pattern sometimes causes games to lose their quality.  So do you mind Pokemon being an annual franchise?

Now we could have this same discussion about any series, but with Pokemon, we must keep these facts in mind:

-Pokemon works in generations

-Pokemon will always be exclusive to Nintendo handhelds, and a Pokemon generation will never cross multiple console generations

-Every region needs a third version

What annoys me theres no love for the Wii U when it comes to pokemon. Pokemon on the 3ds is saturated at this point.

I was just thinking about that, actually.  I would kill a man for a Pokemon RPG like Colosseum or XD on the Wii U, but we'll save that for another thread.

Yup I could go for an annual pokemon.

As i only play pokemon's initial releases (no ''complete version'' since emerald and that was actually the first one) it is not a yearly franchise to me and i would like it to remain that way

The more Pokémon the better for me. It could be a monthly franchise, to be honest.

I think that Pokemon in its current form fits best on handhelds, but I think that a different take on the same basic Pokemon premise could be done for home consoles.  Especially if they can tie the two games together so that they support each other rather than sapping each other, that would be a brilliant move if Nintendo were to pull it off.

I think this is different in that it's not like it's completely new iterations every year. They also do some remakes so they can spend more time on the new games, and of course they skip some years entirely. I think it's fine as long as each game is still of good quality, though I do think they need to shake up the formula some more.

A Pokemon game for the Wii U would be killer though. Not sure why it hasn't been done yet. (Aside from Pokken Fighters, which I'm sure will release eventually)

It bothers me. There's so much to do in Pokemon, that I need more than 1 year to feel that I fulfillled my role in the game. In fact, right now I'm gonna try to catch'em all in X. But since OR/AS are out, it makes the competitive scene in XY disappear, and that annoys me.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

2016 will probably be skipped. I'd prefer if it was every other year or something.
