Just the sole fact I can play my games while my little sister watches TV, makes it worth owning. The Wii U is no doubt my favorite console.

The off-screen play is enough for me to love it!I hope that they will continue it with their next home console not indispensably with a new a gamepad but via the next handheld!
The thing that sold me on the Wii U had to be Pikmin 3. (seems obvious I think :b). The curious here though is that the Gamepad actually changed the way I understand the essence of Pikmin, starting from the fact that controlling all characters with the touchscreen it's quite fundamental and it would be very tedious with pressing the minus button, point the position that you want to go and then press A. I can't imagine myself playing like that.
It's even more radical in Mission mode, where you need to locate the captains in many places, this means, looking at the screen like at least 15 times in less than minute, especially in the harder stages. It's a bit annoying having to look to the Gamepad constantly, but it results to me better than having to maipulate the buttons of the controller, I think it could ruin the experience for me.
But then Nintendo launched an update for the game, which allows you to control it via the Gamepad's screen entirely (Off-screen gameplay). It has just blown my mind so far, it has just make the gameplay and 100% accurate, it's what I have been looking to make of Pikmin 3 a more competitive game, something that was missing due to the separated dual-screen gameplay.
Now I think that a handheld Pikmin should work excellent, even more than consoles. All thanks to the Gamepad, really.
My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Great game, I got mine for "free" (if bundled games count as free). I also got Pikmin 3 for free with the Mario Kart 8 deal and I loved it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvKwkv8_V0o Watch this Pikmin video, it might blow your mind. :p Also have you bought DKC: TF? Pick it up if you haven't! Probably my favorite Wii U game (and the one that caused me the most frustration at the same time ;)) |
Haha, nope. I've just jumped on the hype train, and I don't see myself getting off for a long while. And WWHD was not only the first Wii U game I ever finished, it was the first Zelda game I played. In fact, I consider it my favorite game of all time. It's made me so invested into the Zelda franchise that I'm now trying to pick up every 3D Zelda and even some 2D ones on the eShop.
I bought DKC: TF on launch day! I got all the puzzle pieces & KONG letters. Such a beautifully crafted game. I really wish it was given more recognition.

The Pikmin 3 update has really made me want to go back and replay it with touch controls. After playing the Nintendo Land Pikmin game, I found the controls to be so intuitive and natural. Knowing that's possible in the actual game now is just insane. I really need to go back to it.
Welcome to the family! I hope you're looking forward to next years line-up. I'm a life long Nintendo fan but between having a superior version of my favourite Zelda and a Mario that rivals my beloved Super Mario World from the SNES (though I'll wait a few years before deciding if 3D World replaces World as my favourite game alongside Wind Waker) - the Wii U is running the risk of replacing the N64 as my favourite console.
To answer your question, not yet, but I had three N64s and plan to buy a PS4 so I seem less bias as an indie.

That's why I'm hoping that Next Level Games is working on Luigi's Mansion Wii U. |
Omgggg, just imagining an HD Luigi's Mansion game with brilliant visuals/lighting, new gameplay with the gamepad and one huge mansion that's even bigger than the GC one...I need this in my life.

I think we all need that in our lives! Such a wonderful series so far, it achieves such a unique vibe!
Off Screen play is a hit and miss for me. The distance in my old house seemed like a crazy amount but, I recently moved and now it only goes a very small distance I cannot even go into the next room with it and thats the only reason I liked the Gamepad so I never use it anymore.
