Forums - Gaming - For better or worse, Uncharted is a blatant copy of Tomb Raider.

Well, sunset overdrive is a copy of infamous. :D Technically you could say both tomb raider and uncharted are copies of indiana jones. My point is the majority of games or movies are copies of something else.

Vivster's post pointed out a little known fact that I will elaborate on , ' because of the large shadow Tomb Raider casts over all of  entertainment, a shadow so all pervasive that it reaches back through time and space , it forced Spielberg to change The films name from Tomb Raider to  Indiana Jonas Brothers , so that's  how everything is influenced by Tomb Raider  it simply can't be helped and the more talented the directors/developers etc are the stronger the influence .

"Popular culture influence[edit]

While himself a homage to various prior adventurers, aspects of Indiana Jones also directly influenced some subsequent characterizations:

  • Lara Croft, the female archaeologist of the Tomb Raider series, was originally designed as a man, but was changed to a woman, partly because the developers felt that the original design was too similar to Indiana Jones.[78] Paramount Pictures, which distributed the Indiana Jones film series, would later make two films based on the Tomb Raidergames.
  • Prince of Persia producer Ben Mattes explained that their "inspiration was anything Harrison Ford has ever done: Indiana Jones, Han Solo."[79]
  • The video game series Uncharted is also very heavily influenced and inspired by Indiana Jones. The protagonist, Nathan Drake, also shares many similarities with Jones himself, both visually and personality-wise. The design team felt the sources shared themes of mystery and "what-if scenarios" that romanticized adventure and aimed to include those in Uncharted.[80]
  • The LEGO character Johnny Thunder is derived from Indiana Jones, with other influences. For one, he is Australian (like the Crocodile Hunter). His clothes are also different, as he sports a slouch instead of a fedora, a red bandanna, and a tan shirt. Plus, he has a visible mustache and sideburns." quoted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indiana_Jones

It's safe to say that both Uncharted and Tomb raider were roughly based off of the indiana jones films.

what part of my reply needed to be taken seriously (satire)  .

I think the problem is and don't take it personal we including me have all done it  , people come in with a ready made arguement without properly reading what they are replying to .

At least Nathan didn't have plastic surgery for his chest, unlike Lara!

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

In that case all you end up doing is going round in circles  preaching to yourself , a debate /conversation is meant to be two sided thing full of responses .

I'd say it's more of a blatant Indiana Jones ripoff.

All I need is someone to take an oppisite opinion than me and it becomes a debate or discussion. :D Like what you're doing. Doesn't really matter why or how long it lasts.

SONY COPY EVERYTHING!!!!

What a shocker this is coming from you xD

We all know Uncharted is just Tomb Raider with a male protagonist.. Move on and let us enjoy our adventure fix please.

Uncharted 1-3 = evolution of Tomb Raider franchise

Tomb Raider (2013) = evolution of Uncharted 1-3

Uncharted 4 = evolution of Tomb Raider (2013)

Actually, the most recent Tomb Raider was an Uncharted ripoff.

CONTROVERSY!
