Forums - Sales - Wii-U down YoY in Japan and falling behind fast.

The Gamecube peaked in its first full year, so it wouldn't surprising to see the same thing happen to Wii U in Japan.

The home console market has been struggling in Japan this year so this was bound to happen anyway.

Why single out wii u when home consoles in general are declining in japan

Because the PS4 was rising in spite of the fact that it has no system sellers there, if next year it is in decline that would be worthy of note. MArio kart and SMash Bros are supposed to be nintendo's biggest trump cards in Japan for their home console. If FFXV comes out next year and the PS4 only shifts 25k, believe me there will be threads about it lol

Having said that I remember the Wii U having a really delayed hardware boost in Japan last year. At one random point it jumped to 80k. People might be waiting for the the actual holiday.

There are a many people who are shoping amiibo without any wiiU at their houses.

So yes, this makes totally sense.

Nothing, Nintendo is back on track to make profit. The Amiibo's might make them 1$ billion a year alone. They'll keep to their release scheadule and sit this generation out.

No no stop quoting that 1 billion number. It was talking about the entire NFC market, not just Amiibos.

You do know Skylanders generated 2.3 billion in it's first 2 years?

Think about this for a second. To generate 1 billion in revenue, not even talking about profit, Nintendo would have to sell over 75m Amiibos. In one year. That would require every single WiiU owner to buy 10 Amiibos each. Does that make any sense to you?

eBay sellers have been stocking up on them though. Waiting to become rare then sell for $50+ each. I know one guy who bought 20 Marths when he herd the rumor it is discontinued lol. Wainting it out to resell.

If the PS4 is down YoY next year with some of its biggest releases, you'll hear about it. I promise.

"UPDATE: Industry analysts are calling out the projections made by the analysts quoted in the Bloomberg story. According to recent tweets, senior research analyst David Gibson believes the forecasts are off and possibly meant 1 billion yen, rather than the reported $1 billion USD."

770k amiibo's per year seems more reasonable... than 70 million.

I wouldnt be shocked if 770k was beaten already. some people already have all 12 with 6 more to come tomorrow.
