Forums - Sales - Wii-U down YoY in Japan and falling behind fast.

I think it's good that they're already preparing mentally to be overtaken by PS4.

And as others have pointed out, sales are irrelevant when you make profit.

Nothing, Nintendo is back on track to make profit. The Amiibo's might make them 1$ billion a year alone. They'll keep to their release scheadule and sit this generation out.

No no stop quoting that 1 billion number. It was talking about the entire NFC market, not just Amiibos.

You do know Skylanders generated 2.3 billion in it's first 2 years?

Think about this for a second. To generate 1 billion in revenue, not even talking about profit, Nintendo would have to sell over 75m Amiibos. In one year. That would require every single WiiU owner to buy 10 Amiibos each. Does that make any sense to you?

Some owners will purchase no Amiibo's, some will purchase 10, some will buy all, and others will buy every one of them twice.

WTF peple, and I will baned immediatelly if I say sony is in economic trouble. -.-

Zelda - Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch.... Incredable!!!

This is just Japan, though. Every console is struggling over there; take the PS4 as a good example.

It's less to do with the state of the Wii U, more to do with the state of the Japanese market.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they had the Wii Party U bundle last year. Might explain the difference.

You are assuming that only WiiU owners are buying Amiibo.

They are compatible with the new 3DS, and soon with the old 3DS using an adaptor.

Also, collectors.

The home console market in Japan is rather poor. Want another example? Look at the PS4...

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

PS4 is a bad exemple, it would be a good one if it would struggle like Wii U after its biggest system sellers releases

But for now, PS4 has no dedicated system sellers to sell thé console, so sales are expected

Its a bit like thé vita, bit with a good futur this time in term of japanese support, vita was struggling without games but once it started to have somew it starting to sell ( unfortunately not enough and not big enough système sellers singe 3DS took thèm all, but PS4 will have thé ones on home console )

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

"UPDATE: Industry analysts are calling out the projections made by the analysts quoted in the Bloomberg story. According to recent tweets, senior research analyst David Gibson believes the forecasts are off and possibly meant 1 billion yen, rather than the reported $1 billion USD."

770k amiibo's per year seems more reasonable... than 70 million.

Yeah I had a very hard time believing they sold that many figures in what, 6 months? I know they are doing well but jesus those numbers were unreal.
