I think its because Nintendo are pretty much the pioneers of that market, plus they focus on developing their own GREAT quality games rather, than to add pointless features that do not enhance the fun factor of their handheld. And of course there are more reasons however I find these to be a major factor . What do you guys think?

They appeal to a broad market. We forumgoers may not like, say, horse games, but the 5-year-old girl market does. They big, long RPGs and action games, games for older people, and games for younger people. That's the reason.

*by being inexpensive
*by having a lot of colours
*by been the only product in handheld market for over 20 years.

No one ever made a serious attempt at a handheld except for Nintendo until the PSP came along. However, the DS has so many more game features (splint screens, touch screen, smaller, mic, multi-play from one game) and a wider selection of games types and costs. I'm playing less for many DS games than I paid for GBA and even GB games. It's funny, consoles game prices have gone up, but not so for the DS where many games retail for $20 or less.

In other words, the DS offers a more advanced gaming experince than the PSP at a lower cost. Although, the iPod finally has a couple great games. Maybe Apple will get more serious and also fail to give Nintendo any real competition?
