funny thing is I'm not a JRPG fan and have never bought Final Fantasy but even I may give it a try just for historical value (a remake I won't support this when I know how much people did NOT want it). The announcement would just be so epic at this point I can hardly imagine it. Oh wait I just have to watch the crowd as that SquareEnix douche gets them all hyped up like he's announcing it.

This game would've been in development for years now and I doubt they could've kept it secret. If they just started it probably won't be finished soon. So no reason to hope for anything yet.
