This article makes a good point, one that I agree with. It makes sense why they would bother porting FF7 to the PS4 and risk pissing off a lot FF7 fans.

considering how Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core end; the door is MEGA open for a FFVII-2. The thing is when it will happen.

Nah, if they were building up to a sequel (something that would not need to be built up to in the first place) they would have done it shortly after releasing the spin offs. It has been too long now.

FF7 on ps4 is merely square putting one of their top selling digital titles on a new platform for people to buy again. Nothing more...

I think he's grasping at straws that aren't even there... SE did this to make more money, plain and simple. If they are making FFXV, they don't have enough development resources to make a Sequel or w.e. at the same time! Specially since they are making KH3 at the sametime too! SE trolled everyone, plain and simple and no amount of reaching should ever disregard that fact.

Heck, its not really even the full PC version cause at least the PC version has mod support where fans can redo the game to make it look and sound like the remake that SE refuses to give where as the ps4 version will just be the upresed ps1 version

If they were really planning on making VII-2 then they woulda made a remake of FFVII so fans can refamiliarize themselves with the story, or even a FFVII collection with all the games, tbh only the original needs to be remade, and Crisis Core can get the same treatment that Type 0 has gotten.  Idk anything about the PS2 game.  Releasing a port that just pisses fans off is just a cash grab.
