Voice acting? More like No Voice Acting!!!

In seriousness though, the only way I will accept it is if everyone else But Link talks! I want the main hero to shut his whore mouth through out the entire game and not say a word. The Last thing I want is this ending up like Other M or Zelda Cdi! But if no one talks, thats fine too

he already clearly made that distinction

I would like voice acting if it is done right. With that said, I dont think they would do it right if they did.

Though since its been almost 30 years since the first one came out, its about time to modernize it some with sound.

I would only want a Legend of Zelda game where the talent of the voice acting meets the standards of the characters.

What do I mean? Well unless the new game has groundbraking performances by exceptionally talented voice actors, it would ruin the magic of the characters.

Arguing that "oh it's a new set of characters, you won't have time to lay any 'impressions".

No. it's Link, It's Zelda, it's Ganondorf, (maybe an annoying one dimensional fairy) and a tri-force to bring them all together.

Unless the voice acting could meet the standards of the heroes/Villian(s) of Legend and the combined epicness of their advanced interloping, alternate reality storylines, quests, Journeys, plot and overall 'My god, I just felt the sheer eruption of asperity and passionate storytelling of Legend of Zelda' vibe, then fans will hate the voice acting for lessening the experience.

So unless the voice acting is the one of the best ever performances in the gaming industry (to the standards of the LoZ music) then fans will be dispirited at how one of their favourite franchises took a step back.

3. Voice acting would ruin Zelda's identity

No it wouldn't. It would improve it. [...]

4. Zelda is doing good enough without voice acting.

Again, no it is not. It is doing worse without it.

At least for points 3 and 4, you can't say that for sure. No one has ever played a Zelda game with voice acting to compare it to so it's just your opinion against someone opinion and then, no one is 'right'.

This (voice acting) is something they should test very well before making a change. Yes, it could ruin the entire game feeling.

I personally don't mind either way, but I think your insistence that it HAS to have voice acting is out of place. Voice acting is added because developers believe it will make the game "objectively better". But people differ personally on what they believe is best, which is why we have art/creativity. If there were only one right way to do things (very strictly speaking), there would be little to no art/creativity by default.

Now, of course, most will agree that some changes almost always make things better. Graphics, sound quality, and techinical performance are among these things. As a part of production value, voice acting should be part of this group, but it might not be.

Generally speaking, voice acting is  a more contentious issue than other enhancements that come with technological progression. If you were to improve graphics (i.e lighting, textures, character models), most would prefer the resultant outcome. This is because you're simply asking the question "Does it look better than before?" Despite your personal preferences, it is difficult to say "no" because it is a technological improvement and the display is right there in front of you.  However, when it comes to adding voice acting, we're talking more about types of voice rather than their sound quality. It may not be a huge difference, but it's one a lot of people make a fuss over. I honestly can't think of a single game or cartoon where someone didn't absolutely hate the voice acting. And I'm not talking about people who whine because it's simply different. It actually ruins the game for them.

And besides all of this, the specific case of The Legend of Zelda might warrant an exception. Zelda has always had simple stories, as that of a children's fairytale. It's like a picture book. And there is a certain appeal, however frustrating it may be to you, to read through the lines themselves rather then having them fed to you. Adding voice acting fundamentally changes the way the game is presented. I'm not saying that one is better than another, but you seem to insist that there be no option to turn off voice acting, because you're so darn sure that it would be better.

This whole "x is better than y" thing has limited applicability. The continuous interplay of objectivity and subjectivity ensures that while some things are generally better than others, there are always exceptions and nothing is 100% absolute. Our differences in opinion are reinforced by how we perceive this interplay. This is especially true in things like games where people have a variety of likes/dislikes. Yet people always tend to exaggerate the difference between good and bad, and assert that their favourite games are simply better, and so on. For expample, many say that better graphics make a better game. While this is generally true (as I touched on before), some will actively refuse to play games with deliberately inferior graphics (i.e. indie agmes) , asserting that these games are worse, even though some find a certain charm to the degraded style and reallly like them.

Don´t need it. End of discussion.

We don't need to debate it because it won't happen.
