Forums - Sony - Could the Uncharted Collection fit on a single Bluray?

If they decide to make the pre-rendered videos to be real time I guess they can achieve it.

Umm... do you have a reference because there are not many games from last generation that take up that much space unless very badly coded.

Yeah just check out store.playstation.com the download size for each title is listed right there.

Also, bad coding is not the reason for large files sizes. I am pretty sure you just made that up lol. Surely it could have something to do with texture files,  audio and redundancy to reduce load times. Surely it means, by default that they used bad code :)

I'm sure you were just kidding.

It could be. But that means lots of compression. I'd rather to have 2 disk.

I doubt it. For example, the Killzone Trilogy is on 2 Bluray discs (1 and 2 on first disc, 3 is on other disc). Keep in mind Killzone 1 was on the PS2. All 3 Uncharted games are PS3.

A lot of data is often left uncompressed on discs (Usually audio tracks) so data can be streamed without impacting CPU load too much. That said, these new 8-core systems should be able to handle decompression easily, so they could perhaps compress it onto 1 disc.

Thats bullshit. There is no way Uncharted 1 or 3 are bigger than Far Cry 4 or Shadow of Mordor each around 30 gb or Alien Isolation(15Gb). All of the uncharted games still render 720p assets. You can talk about audio files all you want but that would very rarely cause a game to reach 40+ gb, the only exception i can think of is Titanfall, which is current gen, not last.

They could, but you'd need at least tripple-layered disc's. Those are quite expensive.

They can compress the file on one BD, the game it self have a few similar assets especially the second games and the third one, and also they have Lib GCM for data compression, it was trademarked by SONY for PS4 technology. but the consequence it will have a longer time in installing the data on PS4 but they have background installing while playing so it will feel less compared to installing game on PS3.

U2 alone was 25GB so it would be a multi-disk set. The games would also likely see an up-rez in textures. They could save some space by doing away with the pre-rendered cutscenes.

4 ≈ One

If they decide to use the multi-layer BR disc sure it's possible but is it worth the cost?

Don't forget they need to add Uncharted Golden Abyss, tho im sure that game isn't that big.

Because they used high bandwidth videos. This wouldn't be necessary on PS4, I guess.
