People cream themselves over Xenoblade Chronicles finally being portable. Then moan when equally great games finally become portable because they are ports. This forum is hilarious for the double standards.

Thats beyond messed up^ Its not like Nintendo has tons of games being ports/remakes and if it is remakes, its actually a REMAKE! :)

That said if vita owners are happy, let them be happy. The more games the better. I personally dont like seeing LoZ remakes as im not a person who tends to rebuy games i already purchased thats just an enchanced version (excluding only pokemon for several reasons).

Now the other thing i get about Xenoblade is the fact it was an extremely rare game in the US, so for the many thousands that couldn't pick it up now is their chance.

I get the double standard, but i dont get how your pointing out Nintendo fans because of a very few games. There are some vita owners upset that there are no exclusives for vita that they want (just saying like Bioshock/MGS/etc like the PSP). If your happy with vita, thats good for you. Im happy with my damn WiiU, and that gets a ton more heat than vita does

Persona 4: Golden was a remake too, but you omitted it from your lists ;)

Btw, LoZ: OOT (and MM I don't doubt) is worth buying again on 3DS. It not only looks much nicer, but runs and as a result, plays far nicer than the original versions. Plus it's a game worth visiting.

However, I personally have no problem with ports/re-releases on handhelds. I prefer portable gaming so to me they're good and still the best version of a game so long as the port isn't messed up. In the case of the indie games, they actually feel better on Vita than they do on a home console or PC too. I actually think I prefer cross buy to exclusivity. Unless it is doing things on the Vita can do (which usually doesn't turn out too great) then I see no reason for the games to remain exclusive.

But...zero exclusives. :(

Severed is Vita-only.

OP screwed me over by not mentioning that when he first wrote the thread

The only third party who put an effort was ubisoft at least Sony support vita well in the first week where 3rd party never support it

western 3rd parties dont like to support handhelds in general i guess.
but there are plenty of japanese 3rd parties who supports the vita. and even a decent ammount of them are coming to the west.

@OP i personally dont think it proves Vita lives on. It proves third parties will always be on Sony side as if Vita was a Nintendo product it be dead by year 3. (lets be real here lol)

I mean if you want proof look at japan. Vita gets no lie about 5-10x more games released in a month compared to 3ds. I see people complain about WiiU support over there with third party being almost non existent but in reality Nintendo supports it alot more than Sony does with the Vita. Yet here we are :0

It just comes down to wat gamers prefer. If you think Vita's line up is good and your happy with it... CHEERS! Your happy with no support for your wiiu.... CHEERS! :'-( If your happy with tons of Ports.... GOOD4U!!!

I hope i dont take too much HEAT From this^ o.O

The difference is that while the 3DS has a few ports, they are not the only thing coming to the 3DS.  The 3DS also has a strong library of original and exclusive games.  If Xenoblade Chronicles were the only thing coming to the 3DS, then people would probably complain.  Xenoblade Chronicles is the cherry on top of a delicious sundae after a scrumptious dinner.  The Vita's ports are the whole meal.

By my unofficial count, the 3DS has 30 original and exclusive titles with an aggregate score of 80% or more.  The Vita has 8. So, the hilarious thing is not the double standards, but your inept argument.

What do exclusives have to do with people getting excited over a port on the one hand, while saying they don't want ports on the other?

You're making a strawman argument.  Nobody is saying (at least that I've seen) that all ports are bad.  What people are saying is they do not want a system with only ports.

Changing goal posts as per the usual on this place when confronted with a like for like comparison.

I'm not changing the argument.  Just tearing down your strawman :)

The simple reason the 3DS has to rely on exclusives is because it's not capable of running software appearing on other formats. Most of those exclusives you refer to, have superior iterations of the franchise on other formats.

Well, I needed a good laugh I suppose.  Exclusives have been a big part of the draw of basically every system.   Generally, people buy a system primarily to get experiences they can't get elsewhere.  This level of downplaying is ridiculously absurd.

The reasoning really doesn't matter.  The point is people prefer exclusives to ports.  That's why people are complaining, and that's why people are buying 3DS.

And ALL of those games listed for Vita have better iterations elsewhere.  Every one.  100%.  Any game that's also available on the PS4 (basically all of them) will have to take a graphical hit to fit on the Vita.  That goes the same for the PC games, which will also likely have worse controls.  Even if you wanted to argue that the 3DS games have better iterations elsewhere they at least provide quality iterations that add to the franchise and are portable.  The Vita ports offer nothing but a visual downgrade and portability.

Isn't portability the whole point of a handheld console?

That's what I bought mine for (as well as my 3DS). You're going around in circles really. But I'll leave you to it.

People prefer exclusives to multi platform? Sales would suggest otherwise barring a few Nintendo franchises. I'd people wanted Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, FIFA etc far more. Exclusivity doesn't drive most console sales. It may be a factor which sways you between one system or another if you are torn between the PS4 or XB1. But the majority of 8th gen hardware sales will be driven by multiplatform releases. Exclusives are much more of an after thought more the reserve of fans for bragging rights.

Im not saying ports/remakes are bad. As far as i seen Starfox64/OoT do look miles better/play better, but me i dont usually like playing a game all over again. P4G would interest me as i never owned either it or the original for PS2. KH2.5 would interest me because of Birth by Sleep.

Like i said previously, if you like it on vita more, thats more power to you. Yesterdays announcement showcased more vita games which is good for existing vita owners such as yourself. Some people are talking down about the vita, wheither it be because they are upset/trolling/etc because it doesn't gave those regular exclusives that make vita special, like Tearaway (well at one point), GR, SS, GE,Freedom Wars, etc.

You pointing out Nintendo fans with Xenoblade or Even LoZ MM wont care as they still get more brand new experiences not seen outside of 3ds. Mostly as well i think outside of Xenoblade all Nintendo's remakes/ports havent been from this gen/last gen (1st party).

Anywayz, i dont kno if this helps, but i guess we cant win at all :p

I don't call old port a good support
Persona 5 should had be mutiplatform with vita since persona 4 golden does so well but they don't,big Japanese 3rd party did not support Vita too

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m
