Didn't expect a full remake, but I was expecting something more than just a straight-up PC port

What Square Enix fails to realize is, if they made a proper FF VII remaster, they would begin to drown in money.

But anyway, yeah. It was pointless to make this announcement and get everyone's hopes up, only to say "lolnope! It's just an upressed port!"

SE has to be the most out of touch company on the face of the planet. How they thought cries for a "remake"= port it again, is beyond me. Horrible announcement.

I love how the apologists kept saying how it would cost them so much money and they would rather them make new things than remake old games. The thing about that is the old Final Fantasy games were what made them great in my opinion. If they would graphically update the ones in the PS1 era that would be fantastic, but they gave the middle finger to us.  Better they didn't make the announcement, it just made them look so damn stupid and trolling their fans like that was mean.

I'll still buy Kingdom Hearts 3 though.

I absolutely believe that Square structured their presentation the way did solely for the reason of building up hope and then coldly killing it.
