This November the Xbox had: A $320 bundle including 2 games & other insane bundles, effectively it was $50-100 dollars cheaper than the PS4.

Games: A collection any Halo fan had to have, the first 'proper' next gen call of duty, Sunset overdrive, Forza Horizion, you get the picture. 

Backed up sales: People were put off at launch by the $500 dollars with built in kinect the value proposition suddenly got a lot better in Mid November.

These factors and more mean the Xbox sold over a million units last week which is pretty astonishing considering where it was a year or even six months ago. Whats been on my mind is that these factors have temporararily swollen sales and don't really mean long term success.

My partial stab in the dark is that the Xbox One isn't really drawing sales from the PS4 as such, more selling to its own fans, and the momentum will probably be back with it's rival console by January. If we go down that road those 'loyal to xbox' *sigh* will also have their console and the PS4 and XBO will be selling more to the undecided and new adopters. With what will undoubtedly be a stronger 2015 line up and a price cut at some stage the PS4 should soldifty itself as, you know, 'the' console for this gen some time next year. Which will leave the Xbox in a lot of trouble even though it is still a very good offering. It's hard to put into words but it just seems like they played all their cards (Price cut, Halo, COD) in a big push and I can't see them ever having enough to regain any momentum again. This in itself is not an issue but they have two competitors. 

If I had predict some things it would be:

Xbox one baseline will be near to where it was in 2014 next year (Slightly higher with $350 price, more countries) 75 - 100K a week

Next holiday the Ratio of PS4 to XBO will be higher. (i.e it was 2.9:2.5 in November, close to 2:1 next year)

The only week the XBO will ever outsell the PS4 worldwide is the HALO 5 launch week.

TL;DR version: This holiday it was the XBO's year, for all the wrong reasons, and it still isn't outselling the PS4. These factor combined mean next year and beyond it will not continue to sell 'well'.

But I do agree the PS4 will continue to sell more.  Not a horrible thing as the XBO is selling well.

When a slim is released a ton of ps4 only owners will get the XBO too.  Just how it works.  Same as last gen. 

All true but it really comes down to the unknown things. I don't know how much would MS like to keep the price and maybe even roll it out to the rest of the world. There may be more killer exclusives and exclusivity deals no one could even imagine right now.

As it stands I would say it is far from impossible that X1 will take the next November in US as well. No chance WW though. PS4 is just in so many more homes right now it will reap the symbiosis of that.

I predict that XOne next year will increase by +5%, and i starting to think that next year will breack the peack... if not, will increase by other +5%, and it will have a massive dropped in 2017, but lifetime will be good.

I think this year's pattern will continue throughout the gen.

Xbox will have extremely strong Novembers and Decembers every year this gen, and get reasonably close to PS4 numbers. The rest of the year, each year, will see PS4 ahead by between 1.5/2 : 1 .

Overall, X1 sales will be good. I think it will reach 50-60 million this gen, which historically for a home console is good.

Just as i said all year long that the second holiday is better than the first, the third is also better than the second.  Again this can be attributed to things such as bigger libraries, deals, and prices.  

It depends on the games in the future really... I think it will do just fine

VR headsets. Who does it and who does it best? That will be the difference maker.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Sony let MS have Pyrrhic Victory in the US this November in order to prepare for the knock-out punch that will be 2015.

Won for all the wrong reasons?

There's a simple reason why it won... It was the cheaper of the two consoles. If PS4 was cheaper on Black Friday, then I'm sure that it probably would have outsold the Xbone. Microsoft had a smart strategy this year... Sony didn't really need a strategy.

The PS4 will dominate WW, but that doesn't mean the Xbox One won't be successful.
