Given that N3DS is launching next year, I'd say late 2017/ early 2018.

Why do you assume that will give the boost needed? It won't. 3DS is well past its peak years and is only going to further decline.

3DS successor will launch early 16 - late 16.

If they leave it till 2017 ... their handheld part of the business will look incredibly week.

3DS will be lucky to pass 6m in 2016, given it's barely gonna do 10m this year.

I'm going to say early 2018.

I'm go with September 2017 in Japan, November 2017 in N.America, and March 2018 in Europe.

I say 2017 and 2018 at the latest cause the n3ds hasn't even come out in NA yet... It makes zero sense to launch a device for less than a year and then release a new device a year later that is the "next gen equivalent." Its a bad business move and Nintendo would be stupid to do so

Game Boy Micro says hi.

I'm guessing a 2016 reveal and release in Japan, and Early 2017 elsewhere.

Around holiday 2016 in Japan, Q1 2017 for the West.

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

I've said this over and over again, but Summer/Holiday 2016. No later.

The 3DS still has a lot of ground to cover, 2017.

Well if you read the next post as to why I say its a bad idea...

"Its like, why would they go through all the trouble to make soo many improvements on the n3ds such as better cpu, better camera, better 3d, more buttons and a c-stick if they didn't want to support the n3ds for less than a year essentially?"

The gameboy Micro did not have additional buttons, better cpu and all those improvements that the n3ds has. Infact, there is a large list of things that were not compatible with the gameboy Micro but were compatible with the GBC/GBA which is not the case at all with the n3ds. So the sitution between them is vastly different

  • Original Game Boy Game Paks
  • Game Boy Color Game Paks
  • Game Boy or Game Boy Advance Game Link cables
  • Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter
  • Game Boy Advance e-Reader
  • Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance cable
  • Game Boy Printer
  • Game Boy Camera

2016, announcement late next year. It's far too expensive to even think it'll do much to help out 3DS's declining situation.

Loll hell yea! If they were to release the HDS in 2016, they would have to announce it either in mid to late 2015/early 2016/e3 2016 and if they are going to launch the n3ds in mid to late 2015, announcing the HDS would butcher the n3ds sales which lowered the 3ds sales! Its like, why would they go through all the trouble to make soo many improvements on the n3ds such as better cpu, better camera, better 3d, more buttons and a c-stick if they didn't want to support the n3ds for less than a year essentially? It would legit make zero sense

Yeah like the DSi two years before 3Ds launched so same thing with N3DS to successor I guess 2017...and it seems you have a lil fanbase :P tak13 and me and prob others XD

Lolll, a personal fanbase eh! Now that really would be interesting loll
