Well, considering the Vita is 544p maybe Nintendo's next handheld won't be 720p, but for all I care the Vita is Full HD, even if not technically. I can barely see pixels on the tiny 3DS screen, let alone the Vita.

What?? Its only qHD, its fact. You cant just decide its full HD =P

Also you should look at pics of 3DS blown up -_-

Sooo ugly =P

Yeah, they're ugly blown up and the Vita isn't technically full HD - all I'm saying is, it looks perfectly HD to me when I play it because of the small screen.

Yeah it has a higher PPI than my TV so it still looks really nice. Worrying that we could have sub HD handhelds in a time where we have QHD phones

The gamepad isn't HD right? Yet I think most games look better on the gamepad than on tv. I play a lot of games on the gamepad only. Exceptions to this rule are Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3 and Zelda: Wind Waker HD (I think the reason why is obvious to anyone). Mario Kart 8 I only play on tv when I'm doing multiplayer.

It just controls better to have something close to your eyes... I can breeze through the normal levels of DK: TF on my gamepad screen, but I'll struggle if I play it on the tv. Can't understand why so many people hate it, it's probably my favorite controller with only 3 downsides: underused potential, low battery life and the cost it adds to the console (not really an issue to me though).

I get the feeling that the successor to the 3DS will at least have a 720p screen.

Be sure. ;)

I wouldnt doubt it overall since Nintendo handhelds arent exactly the cutting edge when it comes to technology so its a possibility

And now i start doubting there will be handelds in 2025.

I don't think vita is 720p capable, and as 3DS is barely as powerful as PSP, it's successor will probably not be in HD. If the successor is out in 2023 there is a possibility gamephreaks only releases it's first HD game in 2025.

Given that the next Nintendo handheld will be in HD.......I'd expect a lot sooner.

I really hope so! I'm no tech expert, but by the time a successor is unveiled won't the tech be pretty chep for a 720p screen? I think the Vita is like 540p, so it's definitely possible. Having an HD handheld would draw me in even more!

I think (although 2025 is a bit hard to predict for me cause idk how to market will be by then) that there will always be room for handhelds provided the "exclusivity games" are there. Like, as an example, we have phones and we have some that are quite cheap but "portable media devices" like the itouch and mp3 players stil exist and there is a market for them. If Nintendo can get the pricing right with it being sub $200 and $40 quality exclusives such as Pokemon, I think handhelds will continue to exist from Nintendo.

What I kinda wish what Nintendo would do and I know they will never do it but I wish they did is make a deal with Google! See, Apple has 3 main markets when it comes to portable/mobile devices. 1) phones 2) tablets 3) multimedia devices (like itouch/ipod)... So google has competed with them in phones quite successfully and Android has taken over iphone in terms of market share a long time ago. They are still pretty weak in the tablet market but they are still selling and have some market share. But what they havn't really gone into is the multimedia devices department! Sure, there are some android devices from Samsung that essentially does the samething as an itouch but the market share is soo little that it doesn't even matter and Google themselves aren't really trying anything in that space.

So, if Nintendo and Google made a deal and Nintendo's next OS was powered by android, the handheld would have all the games from Google Play so the third party aspect won't really be an issue and you have Nintendo exclusive games which will sell the handheld for Nintendo and gain market share for android in that space as well. But alas, it will probably never happen! Yes, it is technically a shrinking market but it is a market non the less and I do think partnering up with Google would secure them the future in the handheld space!

The next Nintendo handheld might be in HD, so you never know..
