Forums - Nintendo - Will Zelda U be the only traditional 3D game for the WiiU exclusively from Nintendo

Holy crap, I never realized there aren't any legitimate 3D games, but you're right.

I hope Zelda isn't the only one, but it definitely could be considering the games Nintendo has already released. We could still potentially get a Metroid, though.

I believe we will see a "proper" 3D Mario at some point.

By 3D enviroment you mean a game where you have full control of 3D camera?

If that's the case.....maybe.

I mean, nintendo is still trying to catch the casual crowd even though they jump on the smartphone side.

I expect more local multiplayer-oriented games like Mario 3D,mario kart and smash brothers cause this sells well with "family crowd" but that doesn't mean that a metroid prime 4 is out of question.

Maybe eternal darkness 2?(let me dream please)

By "traditional" you mean their old IPs? Even if this is the case, I don't think that's a problem, as the own OP has already listed many new games in "legitimate" 3D.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Chances are, they're going to tease a new 3D Mario this E3 if Mario Maker doesn't take precedence. That'll be 2 with Zelda included. Star Fox might be on ground and space but I'm betting more on a space adventure like 64. Other than that, I guess you're right.

I heard Nintendo is working on Metroid 3d and 2d so the 3d one will probably be for the wiiU.

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

i mean if what you're talking about is a banjo or mario 64 kind of platformer, the last good one of those was probably psychonauts almost 10 yrs ago. before that, for 3d adventure, the last really good one that wasn't a zelda title i remember was beyond good & evil and that sold like shit (and maybe ico and shadow of the colossus on ps2). so the genre is on life support at best.

splatoon's single player will be interesting, as it seems to have some platforming/adventure elements to complement the third-person action/tactical shooter trappings, but we'll see how that turns out. i mean by your standards i'm not even sure if a new galaxy game would be 'proper' 3d if captain toad doesn't qualify, because in many ways galaxy and captain toad are conceptually very similar.

captain toad and splatoon, then. xenoblade will be too different. zelda, obviously, but that was your initial point. (wind waker hd?) also don't see why bayonetta doesn't count.

I guess Wind Waker HD?

Lego City Undercover as well, maybe.

fixed isometric perspective with only limited movement, as with wonderful 101. it seems a pre-req for this is a completely free 3d camera.
