Forums - Gaming - EA was developing a Sim City for Wii U, PS3, and Xbox 360

SimCity would actually work fairly nicely on the wiiU's gamepad... Too bad no one would have been able to play it anyway lawl

Since Sim City 2000 on PS1 I really miss a console game on the franchise... But if it would be as crappy as the 2013 PC game, then forget it.

They need to do a new one (PC, console or multiplat, it doesn't matter) that works without all that crap so they can rehabilitate the poor franchise, that is absolutely awesome.

I would have got that game.

There are so many games that would convert well from PC to WiiU, too bad WiiU didnt have similar success to the Wii because Im sure a bunch would have been ported.

Probably cancelled it because PS360/U didn't have enough DRM for EA's liking

Heh... It's funny because it's most likely true!

Now we know why small cities =p

Fun fact: The last SimCity game on consoles was http://www.vgchartz.com/game/22967/simcity-creator/

I could see it working on the wii u gamepad fairly well, much better than trying to play it with the ps360 controllers, or gods forbid, kinect. Remember trying to play simcity on the snes, it was functional, and the bowser attack amused me, but if you'd already played it on pc trying to adjust to a controller turned into a nightmare.

It's pretty obvious that the last sim city was designed to be released for consoles. Being ciritically panned on pc probably halted that.

WHen you look at the map sizes, cutting out tons of options and structures, and making it more social, it was pretty clear it was going to be a console port.
Same thing can be said about diablo 3 when it was released. I even made a thread predicting it would be on consoles simply based on the way they changed mechanics to more reflect a 4 button control scheme.

This, I'm positive.

Would have potentially worked well with the Gamepad on WiiU, but as long as EA doesn't feel like letting Maxis put out a title that actually deserves to bear the title 'SimCity' (let alone 'SimCity 5'), they may as well let the once great franchise die with what little dignity it still has left.
