I hate Bioshock with a passion. I expected an epic adventure after all those magazines promised me a sequel to System Shock 2. I got a boring shooter instead. A shooter in which I couldn't even die on the hardest difficulty thanks to those stupid Vita Chambers. (Couldn't turn them off, bought that sucker at launch) A shooter where the strongest weapon by far is a fucking wrench. I never before was so disappointed with a game. That's why I didn't even touch the sequels and played System Shock 2 again instead.

Respawning at a Vita chamber is the same thing as dying and respawning at a checkpoint......

Original Sonic trilogy

The good = The characters
The bad = The flawed gameplay concept

Wait... what?! What flawed gameplay concept? The speed? It sure worked wonders. Some of my favorite games ever. Especially sonic 3 and knuckles. I would still play it today if they made new levels and a new story.

But oh well... i suppose that is the point of this thread.

As for me:

The last of us. Technicly very pleasing but overall an average game not worth the hype.It felt disjointed and unfinished.

Saying Uncharted has poor actual gameplay is like saying Gears has godawful gameplay

Well........ Gears Gunplay>>> Uncharted gunplay, and Tomb Raider platforming/adventuring>>> Uncharteds platforming/Adventuring IMO.

But hey, thats what this thread is about, just saying it how you think it is about games.

I'm sure a lot of games i like will get torn to shreads, but i do like knowing why some folk do or don't like a game, good to get other peoples input.

conversely, it's better than both of them in the opposite aspects.

I bought Smash Brothers U and it's the first Smash Brothers I've played. I don't get why people like this so much? As fighters go I don't think it's very good, so do people just like it because it has a ton of well known cast & stages?

First time I played Smash, I didn't know like 80% of the characters. I mained Samus and I don't think I had ever even heard of Metroid at the time. I like it because it's fun.

Also my friends suck at it so I regularly deliver unto them the bodying.

One reason people like it is because of how customizable the experience is. If you like playing with no items, you can do that. All items on, but appearing infrequently, you can do it. Only Smash Balls, okay. Or only Pokeballs and lots of 'em. Play on stages with bosses or with hazards or with platforms or with none of those things. Play one-on-one or two-on-two or three-on-one or 8 players FFA, whatever floats your boat. The OST is enormous and excellent and, naturally, customizable as well.

So basically if you asked ten people who love Smash Bros to explain why, forget about getting different answers, it'll probably sound like they're all playing completely different games. Maybe you just haven't found what you like about Smash Bros yet.

Come on, admit it, who here holds their tungue when talking about certain games or companies that they simply despise?

Why not have just one teeny weeny thread here on VGC where people can really let loose?

Sure, personal attacks can still lead to a ban........ but i know theres many out there who feel that certain games get a free pass, or other games are simply story heavy but have decidedly average gameplay.

You know what......... i'll get the ball rolling........... Uncharted trilogy (and that bastard child Golden abyss)  The good= Graphics.... the average= the edam factory level cheesy story... the ugly= poor actual gameplay.

Your turn.

In my opinion, there needs to be a forum section where bashing of all things is allowed. If a thread goes off topic into that area, it can be moved there. If an argument breaks out, the parties can be told to take it there. And if people want to post a thread about how crappy a company is, they can post there without getting into trouble.

It's a win win imo. Haters get what they want and we all get a cleaner, more respectful forum.

I don't agree with what you said about Uncharted at all, but I do support your right to say it.  This website is run like a police state and honestly this aspect is holding the site back.

I used to love Sonic and it shows when I've owned all the original three but nostalgia doesn't blind me from seeing its obvoius flaws now the I've grown up. One of the cool things about gaming in general is our ability to analyze and react. This is where Sonic fails in my opinoin.

If fast side scrolling was a good idea, then how come Nintendo never used it? the answer is pretty simple "Nintendo prioritizes puzzles and reflexes" Speedy side scrolling will soon begin to feel "repetitive" it doens't put the gamer in a situation to think and react meaningfully. Because without memory you have no idea what's going on in the other side of the screen.

I'm more confused about using the Last of Us as an example of a bad game but you said it, this is the thread's point so I'll respect your opinion. To me, TLOU is an excellent game saving the relative lack of diversity and Ellie's hilarious A.I.

Well I think what he is saying is that the last of us is technically a very sound game, hard to fault it's presentation. But when a game receives as much hype as it did there's bound to be people dissapointed by it.

I for one never finished the last of us, put it down one day as I had an assignment due and haven't touched it sinc. Although I have been meaning too. For some reason the game just didnt grab me in any way, and after the initial scene the story became cliche as all hell for me although I cant comment on the whole game. Might keep playing it once ive got through the game im currently playing.
