I used to love Sonic and it shows when I've owned all the original three but nostalgia doesn't blind me from seeing its obvoius flaws now the I've grown up. One of the cool things about gaming in general is our ability to analyze and react. This is where Sonic fails in my opinoin.

If fast side scrolling was a good idea, then how come Nintendo never used it? the answer is pretty simple "Nintendo prioritizes puzzles and reflexes" Speedy side scrolling will soon begin to feel "repetitive" it doens't put the gamer in a situation to think and react meaningfully. Because without memory you have no idea what's going on in the other side of the screen.

I'm more confused about using the Last of Us as an example of a bad game but you said it, this is the thread's point so I'll respect your opinion. To me, TLOU is an excellent game saving the relative lack of diversity and Ellie's hilarious A.I.

Well I think what he is saying is that the last of us is technically a very sound game, hard to fault it's presentation. But when a game receives as much hype as it did there's bound to be people dissapointed by it.

I for one never finished the last of us, put it down one day as I had an assignment due and haven't touched it sinc. Although I have been meaning too. For some reason the game just didnt grab me in any way, and after the initial scene the story became cliche as all hell for me although I cant comment on the whole game. Might keep playing it once ive got through the game im currently playing.
