Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

They are a lot closer to fantasy for me than actual science fiction. I'm fine with futuristic settings if they play down the science parts.

Hmmm, we have a similar view but in different paths. I tend to see fantasy a lot closer to sci-fi.
Fantasy any day, whether it's movies or games or tv shows. (excluding my beloved Doctor Who)
Ok, sometimes I prefer sci -fi, but that's when I compare something like Avatar to Maleficent or something. It's a 1 v 1 kinda thingy.
Movies: Sci-Fi
Games: Equal
This reminds me that Cyberpunk 2077 is happening. Hopefully that gets a proper reveal at E3 2015 and a 2016 release.
Can't pick one over the other. Sci-fi is fantasy grounded in some form of reality. And fantasy is well.... if you can imagine it it is possible.

Lol. What the hell is an "intelligent" genre^^

I do love sci-fi games like Mass Effect, and obviously the Star Wars movies are timeless classics. I'd have to say that I prefer fantasy games a lot more than sci-fi ones though. Movies? I'd have to go with sci-fi, mostly because there hasn't actually been all that many good fantasy movies.

Unfortunately, you could say the same about sci-fi movies. We're lacking of those nowadays :(
