Seems like VGC is having some problems. Images and videos don't load for me and links also don't work at times.

This is a good idea from Sony. They don't make that money back and right now saving over a quarter of a billion will go a long way to lowering their loses.

I wonder what they pay for UEFA sponsorship? The champions league is watched all over the world and their playstation exposure on there has certainly contributed to them nailing down the EU and other ROW countries that are mad into soccer.

I wonder if this will have a long term effect on European PS sales?

No reason for that, Champions League is the main seller in Europe, and they are keeping that.

Its only a rumour at this stage, but it would make sense.

FIFA is a corrupt mess that survives SOLELY on the World Cup. Just like the IOC. There's so much corruption in sports that it's not even funny.

Why would anyone want to be associated with it?

Incidentally this wont mean they end their links with UEFA.

Its about time UEFA withdrew it support of FIFA and let it die a horrible, slow and painful death.

We're getting there evetually. Emirates and now Sony. If only Adidas would follow suit, FIFA would be in deep shit.

Yeah but, FIFA world cup final match is usually being watched by literally 1 billion+ people in the world. No other sports even comes close to that, or any other type of event that I know of.

Yes, but to get to the finals you have to endure watching losers like Cameroon, Iran, Bosnia or Croatia to finally see one or two decent matches in which the host nation doesn't get blown up 7:1...

It's like watching the men's rhythmic gymnastics qualifiers in the Olympics...

I'm sorry...Croatia and Cameroon?  I'm surprised that you, as a Croatian, have such a dim view of your own country. Since independence in 1991, you have qualified for all bar one world cup finals  and were semi-finalists in 1998.  That is an exemplary record.

Cameroon have qualified for 6 world cup finals and reached the quarter finals in 1990.  Again, that is a record that far surpasses many, so called, traditional footballing nations.

I work very close to the Sony HQ in Tokyo, and I know some guys who work there. I was talking about the World Cup with one of them and he told me that they wish they could have ended this before, but they couldn't because of contract length or something. He sometimes tell me interesting things about Sony (and takes it all with a lot of humour), like how many employees go to HQ just to study because Sony doesn't have anything to do with them but can't fire them. They even have a specific name for these people that I forget.

Anyway, the deal's with FIFA, I don't know if it will affect the Champions League one, that's probably a separate thing.

Yeah, if he wants to see an actually bad team, he should've said Norway.

Good job. Emirates airine also ended their sponsordhip deal. Its good cause corrupt Fifa doesn't deserve all that money. I'm not sure why Sony was wasting that much money on this anyways.
