Forums - Nintendo - Stop calling the N64 a failure! It outsold every Sega system and the original Xbox!!!!

I LOVE SNES system.

BUT... I HATE N64. One of the worst videogame system I own (I have 28 systems).

In sales the problem is. SNES was huge...N64...+/- ......GC.. +/---  .......wii (casual players) was huge....but Wii U ... +/------   Thats because the true nintendo fans (not casual players) are a small part of the world gaming experience.

Xbox was the first microsoft videogame. Nintendo is a veteran player in this market. N64 was terrible.

Before N64 I was a nintendo fanboy gamer.

After N64 I am a sony/microsoft gamer.

Lets just forget about all the amazing games on the system.

Lets forget about the amazing controller.

Amazing visuals.

Amazing rumble pack.

 Amazing system all around.

We also have the fact that it outsold many systems that were considered hits. Does anyone deny that the Genesis gave the SNES a run for its money? It did so well that it made Sega a force to be felt and they are stlill around to this day.

The Xbox did mediocre, but well enough to give Microsoft the greenlight to stay in the industry and release one of the most popular Western console of all time!

So when people call the 64 a failure despite having bested some of histories most controversial and sought after systems, it is a little annoying and false.

Stop calling it a failure! There are others systems that fit that decription, just not the N64.

It's not a failure (it made money) and it's true that it holds a special place in my heart but... it DID get it's ass handed to it by the PS1. And when I say, handed, I mean...both hands at the same time, holding iron hammers made of barbed wire and TNT.

Good console. Crappy controller. Also while I love OoT, Mario 64, Majora's (not so much actually but I see how it could appeal), Smash, Mario Kart 64, The first Mario Parties, Superman 64, Donkey Kong 64, Conkur's, Goldeneye, and some other gems, it just didn't have the 3rd party stuff to keep up with Sony's exclusives and head start. I'll give Nintendo this though. N64 was supported right up to the end while later systems would either be cut off early or not supported for the final year. Majora's came out in 2000 with Gamecube in 01. I believe Conkur's and a Mario Party were later as well.

The Xbox did mediocre? Lol whatever. It launched into a Playstation controlled market and made a name for itself outselling Gamecube and creating a stepping stone for the 360.

The N64 was what confirmed the downward pattern happening for Nintendo home consoles, which the Wii U is back on the track of.

The first Xbox was a huge failure. It lost billions. I don't think any cosole has lost that much money, even PS3.

Speaking of the PS3, how much did Sony loose on the PS3? I've been trying to find out for a while, but it's really hard. Does anyone know?

I remember reading somewhere that PS3 lost Sony $5bn.

Who's calling it a failure? Nintendo 64 was an amazing console. Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask are three of my favourite video games ever made. And if it wasn't for GoldenEye, Halo would likely not exist. I've waited 16 years for a sequel to Diddy Kong Racing which, deep down, I know will never be released.

With regards to Diddy Kong Racing, you might have a nice surprise waiting for you at next E3. ;)

it did not outsell the megadrive.

Just wanted to state that fact. Now please continue.

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

People seem to be obsessing over sales numbers more than ever these days. Who said the N64 was a failiure? because it sold 32.93 million? I don't see Nintendo crying over it or feeling it it was. I don't remember Nintendo making any losses when it was current and many titles on the N64 had some fantastic sales. People clearly don't know business.

who is even calling the n64 a failure?
So sick of these imagination powered contraversy threads.

N64 blew my minddddddddddddd
