So because you liked the game makes it a big deal? Its still not.

No sales are what make it a big deal, TR aint no slouch.

Actually it is a slouch. Tomb Raider sales are pretty low. Square Enix even said so themselves.

Yeah I'm very excited for the game. Although if I were in charge of SE, I wouldn't have made it exclusive cause it will hurt the sales of the game and might affect the sales of future games as well.

From the time it was announced at E3 to the time it finally released, the Tomb Raider reboot got some bad vibes from people calling it an Uncharted rip off. There were some similarities but really, it was a different beast. I actually preferred it to Uncharted and a lot of people that disliked it changed their minds when they got it for free.

Tomb Raider is awesome! Was my most anticipated game as soon as it was announced at E3 (along with Batman) and it deserves to be a big deal. I got it for 360, PS3, PS4, and I'm considering getting it for $20 on Xbox One! I love it.

...why?

Easy achievements.

The ironic thing about the timed exclusivity here is that Xbox will end up with the worst version of the game.

By the time the PC and PlayStation versions come out, they would've had more time for optimization, have ironed out the bugs, and maybe throw in a free DLC pack or two.

My problem has always been that Crystal Dynamics always intended to bring it to other platforms, so basically Microsoft gave them a ton of money to give me, the consumer, fewer options.

Let me repeat this: they spent money, to give me fewer options. They did not spend the money to meaningfully increase the viability of their own platform but to play keep-away with Sony. This is is anti-consumer practice at its most blatant.

It doesn't even do Crystal Dynamics that much good; TR 2013 was the highest grossing Tomb Raider game of all time and it BARELY made break-even. This company desperately needs to learn how to keep production values in check, and it's going to come crashing down soon. I expect the Tomb Raider after Rise will be a turd, polished with 50 million Microsoft dollars.

But will Rise sell? I honestly don't know. I foresee record returns because gifters are not great at buying for the right console, but I also think it could totally hit 4 million lifetime sales. The exclusive window thing will probably shift it from 60-40 in PS4's favor to 50-50, but it will probably also do that by costing Crystal Dynamics 2-300K PS4 sales.

wow you do know about the Sony's Destiny deal??? Microsoft is actually paying and covering Crystal Dynamics cost of development which should make this game even better. PS4 actually get a better game out of the deal, just timed delayed.

Tales from your  ass.,.,...Square is not a small or rookie developer.....A Square developer posted on GAF they did not need any funding for the game, it is strictly a moiney hat, post proof pr stop spreading lies.. This game would have been made without MS involvement. You have to be a special tard to argue this is a win/win. Nothing good will come from this, Xbox was getting the game anyway so you gain nothing, wont help ms outsell ps4, and the largest TR fanase will just wait or not buy it at all.....Unless your a console warrier and take pleasure in fans of a game not being able to play it because of MS desperation and anticonsumer practices.

Square Enix will benefit most by making this tile a AAA title that sales lots of copies. As a 3rd party game Rise of the Tomb Raider would of been over shadowed by Uncharted 4 and Halo 5. The timed exclusive make this game a big Xbox one Holiday game and actually put it in the limelight. Square the biggest winner since they don't have to sales as many copies to recover their cost. Had the game release on multiplatform PS4 owner would of got Uncharted 4 and simply wait for discount bin to pick up Rise of Tomb Raider.

Nothing good come out of this? XBox one owner's get a much needed AAA Title that can compare to Uncharted 4..... Square get Microsoft to pay for development and can take greater risk and increase the development budget. The video game industry is a business and this get in the way of making great games. This deal reduce the impact of said business decision and Crystal Dynamic now has bigger funding or green light to make a AAA titles funded by Microsoft money. If you think the game would of been the same without this deal then you clearly don't understand the business of video game.

Hm... I never really liked achievements/trophies. I rarely go out of my way to get them. I like to set my own goals!

Personally I think it'll be a win for Square and Sony but still a lost for MS. This time exclusive is just delaying the inevitable.

People still bother to discuss this. I thought it ran its course. The game is between two rocks now. The TR brand could be permanently damaged by the outrage. I don't know its outcome. Since there's a lot of factors in. I personally think its a dumb move. Yes, argue all the reasons why it had to happen. Humans are not logical with emotions.

Yeah instead of a timed exclusive deal, MS should of just bought out Square Enix
