Returning to Pokemon, should I get X/Y or OR/AS?

I personally haven't played a Pokemon game since Red/Blue/Yellow. I think my wife played Gold/Silver.

Just got a 2DS, and I'll get one for my wife soon probably. And I want the best Pokemon experience to come back to after a loooong absence.

Why not both?

ORAS is better.

Well, since I havn't played OR/AS yet, I would have to say X and Y based on that

Get Y and both OR/AS...

Everything else: OR/AS.
X/Y is decent but ORAS seems to be better overall

X and Y are good, but feels like a baby's first 3D Pokémon. ORAS is the real deal.

OR/AS because it is closer to what you had played lastly :O :P

I'm gonna say OR/AS, the only thing it's missing from X/Y (besides obviously region and story) is Character customization, and on top of that OR/AS appears to have a much better after game.
