You're acting as if this is the first time something like this has happened. There were years when FC3 wasn't nominated because it released after the nominees were announced. Gran Turismo same thing happened for the racing category. It's not the first time this has happened and it won't be the last, the sooner you learn this the sooner you'll start to not even care about the award ceremony. I just watch it for the new game reveals.

It's the first time I paid attention to it (and only because this thread). It's stupid beyond means. It's like deciding the cyclist of the year after the Tour de France. Hint: the Tour de France winner didn't win cyclist of the year (Vélo d'Or). The Vuelta a Espana winner did (the event takes place after the Tour).

Nintendo should be somewhere in the Soundtrack section. They're the only people who make memorable game music today. Everything else is cliche orchestra music that my grandpa could compose.

GOTY: imo, should be MK8 vs. GTAV vs. Bayonetta 2

Releasing the award noms before two big Nintendo contenders came out just shows how biased against Nintendo the site on a whole is. This way they can pretend Smash U and Captain Toad don't exist so they have an excuse not to nominate them. You can bet money they would never do that if Sony/Microsoft/a Big 3rd Party game was still coming. If Bayo 2 was straight up Nintendo it probably would have been snubbed too.

You do realise this award show is backed by Nintendo right?

I agree it's silly to do awards before the year is actually over, but you would assume they've played review copies of the games at least anyways.

I assume Nintendo backed them the least. ;) 

Because this list is full of crappy games.

If this was 2013 nominees we would call BS on remaster award.... in 2014 this award make perfect sense.

GTA V deserve the nod since I still can't play Halo MCC online properly.
