Forums - Sales - PS4 boosted to #1 on Amazon with $49-$89 pricings.

Ok, for the people that dont believe amazon charts are not 100% based on sales, wait a couple of days, I guarantee you will not hear anything on the news about ''mass amounts of gamers buy fake PS4 listings''.

Sully1331 answered his own question. Everybody and their cats knows not to buy from new & suspicious listings on amazon.

There will be no refunds because nobody brought them, its just based on site hits. Guaranteed.

But that would mean that there is no correlation to sales and that people have an unhealthy obsession with viewing PSN cards.

Nope it's still happening.  There are two sellers listing for $100 & $89.99.  They're constantly popping in & out, probably as people add them to their shopping carts.

I can't believe that shops pricematched this though.  They are supposed to honor Amazon prices, but not marketplace sellers on Amazon.

Just to be sure, can someone explain why the fake Xbox One listing didn't boost the Xbox One... or did it?

It would only boost it if someone actually BUYS the product. Just putting it into your cart wouldn't cause it to move up the charts. That would be ridiculous.

Exactly. Plus I thought ppl were just getting this priced matched at stores like Wal-Mart since its obviously a scam and no one would sell a ps4 for only $90, which would give the Wal-Mart stores the sale, not Amazon. So wouldn't that mean that it got to #1 on its own the past few hours?

Yes, it did. Or people were stupid enough to "buy" a PS4 for $90 from a 3rd party seller with no positive feedback and wont' be getting what they paid for. I don't know what Amazon's refund policy is for 3rd party sellers though.

Hopefully people ordered some real games with their fake PS4's.

Keep thinking that

I'll also inform you that the PS4 has never ever been that high on the hourly list, not even at launch. Yeah, sure, I bet there's a few Americans that are stupid enoung to go for it, or foodfather is correct and the list is based visitors of a certain item, or perhaps how many that put an item in their basket. It just takes common sense to understand that the PS4 can't possibly be doing this on it's own.

The Xbone kinectless sku is 15 in the best sellers and was 187 (hourly) http://www.amazon.com/gp/movers-and-shakers/videogames/ref=zg_bs_tab_t_bsms http://www.amazon.com/best-sellers-video-games/zgbs/videogames/ref=pd_dp_ts_vg_1

But according to the article I just read on kotaku, they describe it as scam accounts that post the $90 ps4 listings that let you "add" it to your cart, then take a screenshot and show it to Wal-Mart to get the price match.

So if anything, the ps4 is moving up on Wal-Mart's best sellers list since that's where these sales are going to. Not Amazon. Ps4 is just seeing it's normal holiday return to the top of the charts like last year on Amazon. That's my hypothesis anyway.
