Forums - Nintendo - New 3DS and 3DS XL do not include AC adapter....

Nintendo does it because the 3DS is not printing money. Gotta charge extra for standard things when a product is poorly conceived.

Oh Come on! you will be the first to opt for a charger free console if thi swill means cheaper for you when you already have the charger (or it is cheaper elsewhere)

I bought the original 3DS way back in the day so I didn't have this problem but my friend just got the new 3DS XL this weekend and he came back home only to realise there was no adapter either. He had run out of charge while playing his console on the way home. He was livid lol.

It's not so much the cost of the charger that is the issue, rather the inconvenience of having to go out again and buy it when you're excited to be playing on your new console.

I mean seriously, this is 2014. What electrical appliance does not come with a charger in this day and age? What is Nintendo going to do next? Put AAA battery slots in their consoles so that we've to keep buying batteries? This is just beyond dumb.

That is really silly, hopefully NA units will include one.

Yeah, because they normally give them out for free... /s

Words cannot express how mad I was when I bought my 3dsxl and found out it didn't have one. I was about to make a rage thread but opted against it because I thought that people would simply assume that I was hating on Ninty.

I bought a white 3dsxl Mario Kart 7 bundle exactly a year ago from Amazon.co.uk as part of a Black Friday bunduru deal they had (I was lucky enough to get literally the last one). I was ecstatic to be able to play Pokemon after more than a decade until I found out that there was no freaking ac adapter. I found it beyond ridiculous and if it wasn't a huge hassle, I would have sent it back. I decided against it and had to travel to my local GAME (wasn't that close) to buy one for like £10.

I seriously think that such practices should be against the law. I literally cannot use the item that is sold to me unless I buy something extra. And it's not like I can use parts of it. As it is, it's useless. I get it with electronics that don't have batteries, but that's a specific adapter and unless you go to a store for video games, you simply can't use it at all. I'm just glad I didn't buy it and plan on going travelling the next day, because it would have been more infuriating.

Easily the most WTF moment of my entire gaming life.

ps. I didn't like the fact that the ps2 required a memory card, same with psvita, and that the ps3 didn't include an hdmi cable, but at least those things work without them until you buy the extra things you need.

What? This is one of the most bizarre and dumb business practices I have heard of. Even if you already have an adapter with your old 3ds who is to say you won't sell that 3ds or give it to a friend or relative who needs the charger? There are very few instances in which somebody can't use a new charger, and so many where they can. Honestly, if this happened when I bought my 3ds and original 3DSXl I would take the product back. I just don't understand how a company could want to appeal to the mainstream so much like Nintendo does, and not do consumer friendly things that make it easy for somebody who starts out to just buy and start playing.

Becausr then they would cost $15 more that they usually would =P

No point adding shit in the box and make buyers pay for it when they may not need it.

This isn't a headset.

How much is an adapter?

My EB website says $15. It isnt much, but why not just include it in the box.

or europe its 6€

random china charger starts at $1
USB chargers also cost $1

Damn it, I was hoping they wouldn't start doing this, at least in NA. They should at the very least use micro USB then...
