Control isnt as good on console for that kind of game.PC is the best for RTS.War2 on PS, SC on n64, both vastly better on pc.

Because there isnt any 3rd party party games on wii u no matter the genre. Also the only strategy related title nintendo has made for it is pikmin.. In all honesty RTS is nonexistant on any console and to be fair it just doesnt work without being dumbed down.

You're right but still I'm looking forward to see how Tropico 5 works on the PS4. Tropico 4 on Xbox 360 was really enjoyable.

Regarding turn based strategy games I'd really like to see versions of eg. Civ and XCOM on new gen consoles even though they'd probably be downgraded.

because people are dumb... at least thats my guess.

Thats usually the answer to all the questions that would not exist in an ideal world :)

Real Time Strategy games like AoE, Civilization, XCOM... were never very popular on consoles. The controll of this games is just better with a mouse and a keyboard, because they are way more precise than a controller. However, the WiiU has an advantage over that: the GamePad.

With the GamePad you can controll the game closer to a PC than any other console ever. And if Nintendo is trying to appeal to the hardcore, what better way to introduce the usefulnes of the Pad on this genre?. The only problems I see to this are than the RTS are not popular on consoles, and the gameplay may have to be simpler to compensate the lack of keyboard. But if the game is deep enough and has decent multiplayer, it could work on the console. What do you think?

Controls would be good on Wii U, but will the core Wii U buyer rush to buy those games?  I think not.

My 8th gen collection

Dat would be nice, but i cant see the audience for this kind of games on the wii u

I know I would be interested in one.

Well what do you expect? Nintendo made Pikmin, so if there's going to be any others not related to the advance wars franchise (which wouldn't be a bad idea really), then you'll have to wait for third party. If third party aren't making RTS games for other systems, they're sure as hell not going to make them for Wii U. They absolutely should, but they won't. So that just leaves indies.

Speaking of indie Wii U RTS games....

Here's one, and it's a party RTS:

And here's another one, and RTS-roguelike game, also for 3DS:

And here's a sidescrolling RTS, and the first game is on the Wii U as well:

None of those are quite the straight RTS you're looking for, but still, there are RTS games on or coming to Wii U.

Just like the Intellivision could handle games more complex than the average thanks to the game-specific overlays for the controller's keypad, the Wii U could handle games almost as complex as PC can do, but the market for such games is quite small on consoles, it looks like Ninty stuck to one of the classic and true meanings of "hardcore gamer" (the other true hardcores already are Ninty fans, they love games with simple and lean concepts and gameplay, but great care in implementing them in an enjoyable way, that can be played both in a mindless casual way or in an infuriatingly hard one, or in between difficulties), but at the same time it was deceived, estimating the potential market for such true hardcore games, by the huge amount of graphics and power whores, usually compulsive buyers of yearly rehashes of FPS and sports games, that proclaim themselves "hardcores".

PS Precision can be an issue for RTS, but lack of multitouch and pinching capabilities isn't, as having many buttons too, the gamepad can perfectly replace a mouse, that hasn't multitouch either, nevertheless it can perform multiple selections quite quickly and in many ways, if the game's interface is properly designed (that's the main reason why Myth III was utter crap and totally unworthy of bearing the illustrious name of its great predecessors, an interface so flawed that made it almost unplayable and definitely not enjoyable)
