Of course I did! When Smash 3DS came out, nowhere inside my general area had it! I had to go to a Gamestop pretty far from where I usually get my junk just to find one. And that happened because I didn't pre-order it.
This is no longer about principles on pre-ordering games. It's just getting the game at all, early.
