Good for MS.
| thismeintiel said: Wow, people are really using this PR manipulation of figures to say we have XBO undertracked? And what are you guys thinking? Like we're seriously undertracking it by 1M-2M units? No, what this is is MS announcing shipped numbers after they have just got most of the stock for Xmas and Black Friday on its way. Of course, if sales don't keep up, instead of slowly falling (at least going by Amazon), then they are going to have a very small shipment number in Q1 2015. |
to be fair the sold 2m in last 2 weeks lol

Sheesh...this is marketing spin 101. The guy says "shortly" it will have shipped 10 million to retailers. That says absolutely nothing. I consider 2015 to be shortly upon us. This could include post holiday shipments as well as they replenish the channel. Using this info as anything other than spin is being a spin doctor yourself. If that is where you find yourself...and are happy, then congrats.
From Microsoft's perspective, this is a good business strategy. As an intelligent, thoughtful reader of corporate spin, taking it at face value is not seeing the whole picture.

hmm.. I think shipping 18 million PS4s by years end would be great achivement, much more seems pretty unlikely to me unless this holiday sees a serious raise in excitement for the new consoles
"Compared to the previous week, Xbox One sales in the US have more than tripled, which is exciting as more and more friends will be playing together this holiday. As we head into the busy holiday season Xbox One led generation 8 console sales in the US for the past two weeks"
I remember when I was "called out" for allegedly saying (I didn't say this, btw) that companies knew the definitive amount of units sold per week with minute by minute tracking. I didn't say this, I said that companies can easily go online to check availability. This was when MS PR said XBone was "sold out at major retailers" back in December 2013, and I said that that wasn't true because Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc showed that they had plenty in stock.
But, come to find out, they do have weekly tracking, if they know sales tripled week on week and that XBone is leading Gen 8 hardware for two specific weeks. Man, I love irony.

so is this triple referring to cod week?

flooding the channel?

Holy shit!! And I'm guessing that's just one store. That looks more like the amount they should have in the back and/or warehouse. Which means, they probably do have even more in the back and in their district's warehouse. Flooding the channels, indeed.
And I thought the salt in the GAF thread was bad, need a calcium channel blocker just to read this thing LOL.
Oh hey huge corporation spins. Breaking news.
