Exactly. It's like Sony saying they will shortly ship 20m PS4s lol. Tells us nothing much

No, we can draw no conclusions from this. Well, we already knew both PS4 and XB1 were likely undertracked but this gives us nothing new.

1. "Shortly".

2. Holiday shipment - preparing for big sales during the holidays

3. VGC is two weeks behind.

So because he used a comma instead of a semi-colon or period you think it was misleading? It could have been a typo for all we know, those keys are all close together.

are you for real?  first tweet length, and now saying it could be a typo?  you dont need to defend a PR rep.  I can see defending microsoft and your console of choice, but trying to stand up for a guy who gets paid to tweet what he said.  Just face it, he did what he is paid to do.  He spun news to look favorable for microsoft.  this isnt rocket science.  He made a tweet that walks to the line in truth, and easily gets a misleading narrative out there.

It is also funny that they could not wait untill they ACTUALLY shipped 10 mil for the announcement. Seems kinda eager....

It's either that they know they lost Oct, so want some kinda good PR out there when they say nothing, or next to nothing, tomorrow for NPD.  This is most likely.  Or, it could be that they aren't 100% sure that they will reach 10M for this year, but still want that number in people's minds.  It also gives the impression that they are not that far from Sony, since the last number they gave was 13.5M.  Of course, Sony has probably shipped close to 15M-16M, by now.

Good for Microsoft. Almost reaching 10 million consoles shipped is quite the feat. But I believe it would be better if they mention it when they actually reach 10 million consoles shipped to avoid any misinformation.

I'm expecting a huge win for Sony in tomorrow's NPD, probably more than 2:1, since Microsoft's PR panicked and started issuing fictitious shipment numbers.

"We are shortly shipping 10 million consoles, it's only a matter of waiting for the Chinese to actually assemble them."
