We assume he means DC is the lowest, but this is all we've got.

Ummm No. GTAV= biggest ip and on about 3x more userbase(2 sku's). Even if its a remaster.

User base is irrelevant. 30+ million people have already played GTAV, including a helluva lot of people who own PS4bone. Exactly zero members of the public have played SSB. SSB pre-orders > combined GTAVR pre-orders and conventional wisdom says Nintendo games tend to have a lower proportion of pre-orders to week 1 sales. GTAV might do better than SSB if black friday is all about GTAV and there isn't much BF promotion of SSB. But otherwise SSB should do the job.

GTAV will sell a lot, even the xbox one version will outsell Smash, GTAV on Xbox 360 and PS3 sold together 34 million and counting, its huge. OK its a remaster so it won't sell near as much but its still going to sell many millions

Why do so many people say things like this?  Being within a few percentage points of an LTD isn't impressive when you have previous data points on it.  Take a hypothetical system that had a known LTD of 100m at the end of 2013.  I estimate 4 million sales for 2014, but it actually sells 1 million.  You don't look at the 104m vs 101m and say I was within 3%.  That base 100m was already a known quantity.  You look at the portion that was unknown (1m vs 4m), so my estimate would have been 300% off.

That's a recollection of a prior post by someone else. Hardly reliable info. Can you find the actual post that made the original claiim? Otherwise, SO @ 9 and DC ahead of it is very plausible according to VGC individual format rankings. DC may be overtracked but it could still come in ahead of SO. SO ahead of Bayo 2 seems plausible given their VGC numbers are so close.

Without more info this NPD thread is all but over it would seem.

Amazon's 100% record of picking the hardware winner for 2014 is preserved.
