Forums - Sales Discussion - October 2014 NPD Thread!

Lol so according to Nintendo's own LTD updates on 3DS games in the US, Zelda ALBW went from 1.09M in July to 1,.06M LTD in October... Ouch. 3D land is WAYYYYYY overtracked here. By almost 700k in the US alone.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

SUPER SMASH BROS. FOR NINTENDO 3DS IS 10TH NINTENDO 3DS GAME TO SELL 1 MILLION UNITS

Nov. 13, 2014

It’s official: Smash is a smash. Despite only being on the market for a little more than a month, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS has already sold 1.2 million combined physical and digital units in the U.S alone. The game sold more than 485,000 total units in October to become the 10th Nintendo 3DS title to sell at least 1 million units in the U.S. The Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS game is the best-selling hand-held title so far in 2014, but will face a stiff challenge to hold onto that title when the next great Pokmon adventures – Pokmon Omega Ruby and Pokmon Alpha Sapphire – arrive on Nov. 21.

Nice! Why do we think Western audiences will happily buy inferior portable releases of Smash Bros when they don't want portable versions of home console games? :p

Oh that's right, because that opinion was actual pure BS.

*edit* I'm actually glad "inferior" portable versions of home console games can do well on 3DS as I love handheld gaming and think the compromise is worth it.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Using 69k, Wii U would be down YoY worldwide in October here. That also doesn't account for over tracking in Europe/ROTW.

Hmm? did 50k last year in the US so up 19k.

World wide

Subtract VGC current Wii U US sales from October 2014, then add 69k. It's down YoY

Not sure why Europe/elsewhere sales would have been higher last year than this year tho.

Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

It was 50.5k to be precise. It's also 47% for the 10 months, not even sure what calculation you're doing with those figures ...

Regardless most on gaf agree with the 67k - 68k range.

Sales up by 47% year on year, not Oct 13-Oct 14

November will be interesting,

Wonder how WiiU will fare going forward, its days of doing 100% (or even 50% yoy are gone)

Was down YOY for the month of September, and is up 40% this month.

Nov NPD was surprisingly and awfully low for WiiU last year though.
