79 unique lists have been put on the spreadsheet thus far!
1025 unique games have been counted thus far!
Speaking of big numbers, this year's discussion thread is already the most popular thread, and will only continue to grow! Awesome stuff. ^_^
15. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
GameCube, Wii U (2003)
Nintendo EAD
I'm still bitter that I never got the Ocarina of Time Master Quest game because I didn't pre order Wind Waker. Hrmph! All that aside, let's talk about The Wind Waker. The Wind Waker is a beautiful game. Not only for its visuals, but for its music, its portrayal of the characters, and the story that it tells. Even the villain is shown in a more sympathetic manner, and by the end I could relate to the pain that ate at him and the goal that he wanted to achieve. The game also presents our hero with the most explorable overworld in the series, and it's always a joy to set sail on the high seas thanks to some amazing music and diverse locations and events. And although the main game offers the fewest amount of dungeons in the 3D Zelda games, it makes up for them by offering so much other great content. In the end, The Wind Waker was an instant classic back in 2003 and holds a place in my heart to this day (even moreso with the wonderful HD Remaster).
14. Conker's Bad Fur Day
Nintendo 64 (2001)
Rare Ltd.
With the Nintendo 64 fading into the twilight, Rare gave it one last swan song in their greatest work ever (which is saying a lot!). Conker's Bad Fur Day succeeds in the amount of diverse content it offers to the player. The legendary studio took everything they learned from all their previous games and combined them to offer an adventure that threw everything at you. Throwing toilet paper at a giant singing Poo Monster, hover boarding across lava, taking down zombies and nazi teddiz, capturing villagers to fatten up a giant vampire bat, and smacking an iron golem's brass... er... balls. Doing this all while cracking jokes and spoofing movie moments (most hilarious being the Matrix spoof). I haven't even mentioned the multiplayer yet, which offered hours upon hours of great fun with a plethora of modes to choose from. When the game was rereleased on the Xbox (with the multiplayer completely gutted...), I sat down and completed the entire adventure in one sitting. Just as amazing as I remembered it. *raises glass of milk*
13. WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos
PC (2002)
Blizzard Entertainment
WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion pack The Frozen Throne is probably my most played game ever, easily above 1,000 hours of playtime. How so? Well, an extremely involving and fun story mode, countless hours playing friends and others on Battle.net or locally, and most importantly of all... Custom Maps. WinterMaul One, Pokemaul, DOTA, Poker TD, DBZ Tribute... Custom Maps offered a plethora of amazing content and a time sink unlike any other. So many good memories with this game, and even now I'll go back and play a round or two. Of course I have to give a shout out to the Undead. My life for Ner'zhul!
